Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Today I am calling you to pray for peace: peace in human hearts, peace in the families and peace in the world. Satan is strong and wants to turn all of you against God, and to return you to everything that is human, and to destroy in the heart all feelings towards God and the things of God. You, little children, pray and fight against materialism, modernism and egoism, which the world offers to you. Little children, you decide for holiness and I, with my Son Jesus, intercede for you. Thank you for having responded to my call." (January 25, 2017)

We just scratched the surface about Modernism. But next we have Materialism. We all can imagine Materialism to be the love of stuff, the stuff we own and use, collect and hoard. Material things can make us happy, feel safe, feed our egos, but not for long. And living for such things is not really part of the road to holiness. Our Lady wants us to have simple and humble lives so as to be free to love God.  Living for the material is not worthy of the human spirit.

But there is also a philosophical understanding of Materialism that goes much deeper. The philosophy of Materialism is actually atheism. The Materialist does not believe in the supernatural, in God, in our souls or in any moral truth. The Materialist believes that only matter exists and that all life, including human life, is a product of the motion of matter. Darwinism assumed this philosophy, saying that living things only act to insure the survival of the species, there is no eternal purpose, just survival of the next generation, because of the impulse or movement of living matter.

Materialism as a philosophy is a very sad reality. Here are some short explanations of Materialism that might help:

The theory that all reality is only matter, or a function of matter, or ultimately derived from matter. There is no real distinction between matter and spirit; even man's soul is essentially material and not uniquely created by God. In ethical philosophy, materialism holds that material goods and interests, the pleasures of the body and emotional experience, are the only or at least the main reason for human existence. In social philosophy, the view that economics and this-worldly interests are the main functions of society. https://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/dictionary/index.cfm?id=34790

[about Karl Marx] The first of his two key ideas is that of atheistic historical materialism. Like Hobbes, Marx believed that there was no creating God, no plan, design or providence that worked in the universe and as a result there was no metaphysics that could posit knowable, immaterial principles by which and through which the universe existed. For Marx there was only the unstoppable progress of history through the process of matter.

Materialism is the philosophy that reality consists only in the physical and tangible. Materialists seek their ultimate happiness in physical pleasures and possessions. They don't believe in spiritual goods and they don't really value human nature. People who embrace materialism often teeter between living life to the fullest and falling into the pit of despair.
The materialist assumption is that the tangible world is all that exists. Nothing exists if it cannot be proven true by science. The assumption is that any claim to truth without scientific evidence is nothing more than opinion. This means that what would be considered true through philosophy or faith is considered mere personal preference by a materialist, including many religious and moral truths. Of course, this view of reality in general has a great effect on a materialist's view of human nature and human life in particular.   http://www.fromtheabbey.com/library/materialism/

We can see this philosophy in action in most of our cultures today. It is a hopeless way of thinking, because ultimately nothing really matters but your fleeting pleasures. There is no afterlife, there is no heaven or God. There is only this life.
How many times Our Lady has tried to help us look to the eternal, to heaven as our future. She came to tell us the God exists. And she constantly directs our eyes to the supernatural, to the life of our souls, to the reality of the afterlife, and our future destiny with God. She does not want us to fall into the Materialist funk, living as if there is no life after death.
So that is Materialism. Yes, it is being distracted by stuff, but even more it is being lied to about our immortal souls and our eternal life with God.
As Our Lady tells us, we must fight this way of thinking!!

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Today I am calling you to pray for peace: peace in human hearts, peace in the families and peace in the world. Thank you for having responded to my call." (January 25, 2017)

Our Lady gave us a strong directive in this most recent message. She is calling us to pray for peace. And she is warning us that Satan is strong and wants to take all our peace away, by convincing us that God is our enemy, and that all that is good will only come through our own efforts, our own thoughts, our own understandings of life, and our own desires. The enemy is trying to convince us that we are the center of our own universe. And that is when he will have us in his grasp.

Our Lady warns us about three "isms". "Isms" are belief systems that arrange a set of values around some basic understanding of reality, and influence our choices. "Isms" are ideologies. They can be very dangerous. They can lead us into real trouble, by redefining our lives in terms of a value or idea that can become a god to us. There have been many destructive ideologies. But Our Lady mentions three: materialism, modernism, and egoism.

I think modernism is maybe the most difficult of the three to understand. It actually is very much at the heart of the troubles we are having in our world. Modernism is a way of understanding existence which began with Luther and Decartes, and has permeated the way religious people approach the faith even to today. It makes us think that what is important is our own inner understanding of things, our subjective experiences. Don't we see this way of thinking everywhere in our societies today? It makes us the center of the universe, individually. Absurd!! Yes.

I discovered a short talk given by Bishop Robert Barron in 2012. This talk really helped me to understand what modernism is, how it began, and how it has influenced theologians and philosophers for the past 400 years. It explains a lot about the confusion we have in the Church and in the greater society about our faith.

Bishop Barron says there are 4 key points that help us recognize Modernism:
Subjectivism
Rationalism
Dualism
Anti-Traditionalism

These four ways of approaching the faith build on one another, and have weakened the faith. Rene Descartes declared this new understanding of things in this way:

Subjectivism was announced by Rene Descartes in his famous "I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am." Descartes decided that all reality was subject to his own perception of it. And so the personal experience was the final arbiter of what was real.

Rationalism was embraced by Descartes because he felt that only mathematical or scientific thought was a reliable source of information about the outside world.

Dualism emerged because if the inner subjective perception was so important, then the body and the outside world was secondary in importance. Hence the mind over body attitude.

And Anti-Tradionalism came into his thought because it seemed better to get rid of the old structures (like the Church) in favor of the new structures of thought coming from his own understandings.

We can see these four ways of approaching the world and our faith in so much of modern thought today, according to Bishop Barron.

Here is a link to his talk, on YouTube. He speaks for about 40 minutes. It is in the first half of the video. Bishop Barron starts about 10 minutes into the video. I found his talk very helpful in getting a clear understanding of what modernism is. We encounter it every day in and outside of the Church.

So you have your homework for today!

Our Lady wants us to be equipped to stand up for the truth, because in the truth we will find peace as well. And peace is so very much in danger these days. But we can be carriers of peace, if we pray and fight with Our Lady. Pray, pray, pray!!

Here is a beautiful prayer for peace, a peace that comes forth from repentance and conversion. Maybe we can pray this prayer together for the peace of our hearts, our families and the world:

Psalm 85

LORD, thou wast favorable to thy land;
thou didst restore the fortunes of Jacob.
Thou didst forgive the iniquity of thy people;
thou didst pardon all their sin. [Selah]
Thou didst withdraw all thy wrath;
thou didst turn from thy hot anger.
Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away thy indignation toward us!
Wilt thou be angry with us for ever?
Wilt thou prolong thy anger to all generations?
Wilt thou not revive us again,
that thy people may rejoice in thee?
Show us thy steadfast love, O LORD,
and grant us thy salvation.
Let me hear what God the LORD will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people,
to his saints, to those who turn to him in their hearts.
Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him,
that glory may dwell in our land.
Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet;
righteousness and peace will kiss each other.
Faithfulness will spring up from the ground,
and righteousness will look down from the sky.
Yea, the LORD will give what is good,
and our land will yield its increase.
Righteousness will go before him,
and make his footsteps a way.

Mary TV January 24, 2017 Reflection - Pray, Pray, Pray!

St. Francis de Sales

Dear Family of Mary!

Here is another excerpt from Fr. Slavko's book, "Mother! Lead us to peace!"

Message of October 25, 1991:
Pray! Pray! Pray!

This is the shortest message that Mary has given to us to date...

PRAY!

The apparitions and the messages do not merely concern the situation in Croatia alone, but also in the entire world. They are, according to the message of last August, related to the events and messages of Fatima that, in turn, point us toward great events occurring in the entire world. First plans of peace and joy are implied, but then they are being born in suffering. Mary has not appeared here for such a long time to tell us that difficult times are upon us. These which already have come upon the Croatian people, are very obvious even without her company. She comes to help us remain on the path of peace and in the meantime not to become discouraged in spite of all the problems. This is a great sign for hope! In other words, the problems do not come because Mary is appearing but she appears here to help us solve the problems and to suffer through the hard situations just as she herself and her Son, Jesus Christ, did. This is the path of renewal and resurrection. This war that is fought in Croatia against Croatians is a war that has moved many millions of people and especially the pilgrims of Medjugorje, to prayer, to fasting, to sacrifices and to acts of love.

PRAY!

No war to date has been so accompanied by prayers from around the entire world. This fact speaks for itself. Mary, as the woman clothed with the sun, fights the evil enemy along with her descendants. Therefore, it proves to be no coincidence that one of the first targets of the aggressor has been the churches. According to the reports from Zagreb more than 210 churches are today damaged or entirely destroyed. The victory that we ARE expecting could be a new beginning for Europe because this war is the only open on being waged in Europe. We should all learn something very important from it and we pray that humanity truly does learn! It is high time for us all to become conscious of what great possibilities of destruction exist in the world today.

PRAY!

Something that arrived at the Parish Office can put a light on this war from a very important perspective. It was a letter written and signed by 80 Croatian soldiers on the front near Osijek. It was entitled "An Appeal from the Front Line of Battle." The message of peace, brought to us by the Queen of Peace, does not only consist of an appeal to stop wars but also to stop any destruction of life. It involves protection of life from the very beginning, protection of nature and of all of creation, deep peace between God and man, between man and woman and between man and nature. The relationship should be based on respect, on reverence, on protection and on love. The advancing battle line of death could be restrained in this way and life in peace, as it is God's will, could really be attained. If the word 'pray' is repeated, as it is, three times in this month's message, then we should simply pray without many more explanations. For this reason, I permit myself here to repeat in a school book style what we were until now told about prayer.

1) Who is supposed to pray? - Every person without exception. Every country, every Parish, every family and then every prayer group.

2) What is to be prayed? - The Creed, the Lord's Prayer, the Hail Mary, the Holy Mass as often as possible, novenas, the Bible should be read, twice a week one should fast and these alone, with the family and within groups.

3) How are we all to pray? - With the heart and that means with love and with trust in God's love and mercy.

4) For which intentions ought we t pray/ - We should pray for our Blessed Mother's intentions. She then promises to present our prayers to the Father for his plans as He desires and then also explicitly for the Triumph of Her Immaculate Heart.

PRAY!

As we participate in all these prayers, Masses, fasts and novenas, none of us may forget that each one of us is not merely important, but truly indispensable for Mary's intentions! Again this gives us a new purpose for our lives, for our prayers and for our work. Then lastly we may also occasionally think of ourselves. Our Lady said in one message that we should pray and that we will not regret it.

Our Heavenly Father, You call upon us through Mary with a threefold urgency to pray, pray, pray! Send the spirit of prayer into our hearts, into our families, into the prayer groups, into the communities and into the entire Church. Help us to become during these times Your people of prayer, that we may adore and praise You in all situations of joy as well as suffering, because You are the Lord who loves us. Bless all who have been following the messages and who are praying with all their hearts. Give all who have not yet accepted the message and decided for prayer a renewed strength and new decisions to do so through the intercession of our Most Holy Mother! Hear us, O Lord, and give us peace with your son, Jesus Christ, the King of Peace. Amen. (Medjugorje: November 4, 1991)

Today I invite you to decide for God once again and to choose Him before everything and above everything, so that He may work miracles in your life and that day by day your life may become joy with Him. Mary TV January 20, 2017 Reflection - I bless you and carry each of you in my heart!

Fr. Slvako Barbaric, OFM

J.M.J.
January 20, 2017
St. Fabian and St. Sebastian

Dear Family of Mary!

This is the last installment of Fr. Slavko's reflection on the December 25, 1994 message:

December 25, 1994 "Dear children! Today I rejoice with you and I am praying with you for peace: peace in your hearts, peace in your families, peace in your desires, peace in the whole world. May the King of Peace bless you today and give your peace. I bless you and I carry each one of you in my heart. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Peace in our desires leads to...

PEACE IN THE WHOLE WORLD

This will be the final fruit of our taking Mary's path to peace in our hearts, peace in our families and peace in our desires. These days we see and hear how peace is threatened from the outside by numerous conflicts, but those things are still a continuing impulse for us to pray for peace. The world is in chaos, the world does not have peace and this is for a very simple, true and very deep reason. The world has turned away from God and the world even wants to make itself independent from Him!

"The people of these times", a teacher of repute is known to have said, "have eaten too much from the tree of knowledge and have ignored the tree of love, the tree of trust and the tree of God." It is for this reason that it becomes very important for us that we, especially in these times, renew our 'yes' to Mary and with her hold on to the belief that peace is, after all, possible. We should do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to bring peace into our hearts, into our families, into our desires and into the world!

MAY THE KING OF PEACE BLESS YOU TODAY AND GIVE YOU PEACE

She knows Him and He is the Prince of Peace about whom the prophets sang and whom the prophets announced. It is ultimate for us to know that it is He and ONLY He to whom Our Lady is praying and leading us. It is very beautiful to know that she intercedes for us to her son, for this very particular Intention - PEACE. We should not forget that in several messages she tells us that she needs us and that we are important to her. We are important to her because the first part of peace that Jesus promised us is peace in our hearts. It is only from this out of which peace in the families and peace in the world can grow.

I BLESS YOU AND I CARRY EACH OF YOU IN MY HEART

This means that she promises that she will continue to pray for us, that she will continue to intercede for us and that she never judges us. It is 'benedicere' in Latin and this means that she 'speaks well' of us and does not accuse us before God. Then finally she says something very motherly and beautiful. She sees herself as the mother of every single one of us! She carries us! And this is OUR CHANCE to permit ourselves to be carried by her! We must become conscious that she loves us, that she loves and accepts us as a mother.

When we come closer to her, as she said in the November message, we will also discover God. Father also carries us! THINK ABOUT IT! This is a call and another strong impulse for us to open our hearts to her and to become like her in our thoughts, in our feelings and in our entire lives. This message is one that in a special way clarifies Mary's program to us. She came to announce peace and not war! It clarifies that one cannot advance in merely analyzing but to progress it is necessary to personally decide for peace. This is also the case when we find ourselves in deep conflicts. Then too we can lead or be led to the Oasis of Peace. The people the communities, the families, the Church itself and all the rest of the world NEED THIS PEACE! Everyone will become a person with good intentions when they actively decide to come closer to God. This is quite simply the program leading out of Bethlehem when the angels sang: "Glory to God in the Highest and Peace to all Men!"

So Mary has been with us for 13 years and 6 months [and now for 35 years and 6 months] and we are in her College of Love and of Peace. Slowly but steadily we should come to the conclusion that there are no more excuses to go to lesser schools. SHE LOVES US SO MUCH! SHE GAVE US SO MUCH! SHE HAS TOLD US SO MUCH! SHE IS PRAYING FOR US! We have all the reasons to become active so that peace can come to us all. WE SHOULD LET HER PROGRAM BECOME OUR PROGRAM! May we become conscious that this peace can truly come when we constantly fight evil and sin and when we consistently work on our hearts as we work on our fields. (Fr. Slavko Barbaric. "Mother! Lead Us to Peace!!" p. 307-308)

I am grateful to have these words of Fr. Slavko available for us to ponder. He was and is a gift to us in these days. He gave everything to serve the Gospa. He held nothing back. And he did serve the good and peace in Medjugorje.

May we follow Fr. Slavko's example, and abandon ourselves to the Mother. She will take us to her heart, and help us to become apostles of peace. Jesus will then be everything for us, and we will live with Him in our hearts, and in our families and the whole world.

Mary TV January 19, 2017 Reflection - More from Fr. Slavko

Father Slavko Barbaric

Fr. Slvako Barbaric, OFM

J.M.J.
We continue with Fr.

PEACE IN YOUR FAMILIES

When Mary says 'family' we think of husband and wife, mother and father and when they together create the conditions for peace. It becomes a call for unconditional love, for forgiveness, for respecting one another and for accepting one another. Whenever the parents are wounded or wound each other it, of course, falls upon the children and in such a situation peace is NEVER possible. Therefore, it is the parents who are first called upon in the family unit to have peace with each other, to have peace in their desires toward themselves, each other and toward their children.

Of course we can only imagine what is in the hearts of many parents while they are trying to guide and raise them, with all their worries of what the children will be doing and what will the world be bringing to them! These doubts and questions are justified but we will not react with fear, with panic or with mistrust. These will not solve the problems. It is not in this way that we will be able to help the youth. The best help that can be offered to them is when the parents have decided for peace themselves and when they thereby stand in front of the children as witnesses of peace.

Only when life becomes a gift from God the Creator and when we therefore learn to love everything more within the family will it become easier. It will also become easier when one removes all that which threatens peace and these things become even more difficult when the children reach puberty. The suffering of the parents then becomes extreme and often unimaginable but peace is still possible because Mary also is praying for peace with us.

This is the reason that we very consciously must renew this prayer for peace in our families every day. Yet more than on anything else this peace depends on the parents, on husband and wife, and then finally also on the children. If only one is there as an agent of interference, confusion or division, then the peace of the entire family is at risk. Then seen on a merely human level, peace becomes impossible. Then Our Lady addresses a very important level of peace and that is...

PEACE IN YOUR DESIRES

With this, I believe, she is touching upon our inner-freedom. The freer we are from ourselves, from other people and from the material, the more we will have a true peace within us. When we are dependent upon ourselves or when we have pride in our hearts, then we will only with great difficulty, if at all, be able to have true peace. When we are dependent on things, people, wealth, influence, alcohol or drugs, then it is impossible to have peace within us because the mind or the body come to control everything. All of these only hinder the heart from coming to peace.

It is therefore good when we ask ourselves this. What is it that we are really seeking in our lives? Is it to meet with God and then out of Him and with Him to meet other people and all of His creation? This is not easy. It is difficult and it means daily attention and daily straining, but it is only this search that keeps us in a deeper peace. When we become free in this sense we are bringing peace into our desires and thus it is ONLY peace that controls us.

Here it becomes important to think of this message that Mary gave us. "Work on your hearts as you work in your fields." This is a valuable assignment for the coming New Year as well for all the coming years. We have all been wishing each other peace when we were sending Christmas cards and meeting so many people over these holidays. We want this to be our desire, our ONLY desire in our hearts all year long!

The simpler our desires become, the stronger we yearn to love God, to love freedom and to love other people. Then it will become easier for us to take upon us all that helps us come to inner peace in our desires. It will then also be easier to accept all those things that are not all right and that are not helping us to be in contact with God...
(Fr. Slavko Barbaric, OFM. "Mother! Lead us to Peace!! P. 306)

The Final installment will be tomorrow!

Peace in our hearts, Peace in our families, Peace in our desires...and Peace in the whole world!!!

Mary TV January 18, 2017 Reflection - Fr. Slavko speaks about peace

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
January 18, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!

We have made together a new commitment to pray for peace. This year, 2017, will be a year of prayer for peace! There seems to be a new urgency to pray for peace as Our Lady asked us in the December 25, 2016 message through Jakov. Thank you to all who have sensed this call and are joining in our commitment to place a great value on peace, and to pray for it!

Fr. Slavko Barbaric, OFM, wrote a series of reflections on Our Lady's messages which were compiled in 1995 into a book called, "Mother! Lead Us to Peace!!" He wrote on the messages from 1990 to 1994, a time of great unrest and war in Bosnia. His words are poignant and powerful.

His final reflection is on the December 25, 1994 message. I will begin sharing his words today:

December 25, 1994 "Dear children! Today I rejoice with you and I am praying with you for peace: peace in your hearts, peace in your families, peace in your desires, peace in the whole world. May the King of Peace bless you today and give your peace. I bless you and I carry each one of you in my heart. Thank you for having responded to my call."
[The war had been raging since 1991, but was starting to ease up.] At the moment there are fewer battles and just before Christmas another "peace agreement" was signed between Moslems and Serbs. This will hopefully last for a while but still the situation remains very tense everywhere. We still hope the New Year 1995 will bring us a bit closer to...

PEACE
Again peace is the last message Our Lady has given us for 1994. In fact, she AGAIN mentions peace seven times! It should be of interest to us all that in the message of July 1990 she also mentioned peace seven times. Shortly after the July 1990 message the crisis in the Gulf erupted leading to international tensions. Also shortly afterwards the first signs of serious problems arose here when the Serbs in south-central Croatia and western Bosnia/Hercegovina first put up their barricades. It was right after another message a few months later, in December of 1990, in which Mary also mentioned peace seven times that the war in the Gulf took its most serious turn. So now AGAIN Our Lady says so urgently that she is praying for peace with us and here she has specifically mentioned peace on four different levels. For 13 years and 6 months Mary has been praying for peace and has been asking us to pray for peace with her. This message is again a very strong impulse for all those who hear it to pray and fast for peace. We must really find the path to peace with Mary and then put it into reality. This call is nothing less than urgent! Putting it into reality is not easy but still hope exists. Hope is certainly justified and it has its place in life when Mary prays for it.

PEACE IN YOUR HEARTS
This is the first condition that we need in order to lead to peace in the families and then in the whole world.   Peace in the heart is in actuality an inner-strength with which one carries one's own cross in life. It is a strength that makes us active in doing good and fighting against all evil and sin. This peace is the biblical peace that contains all spiritual, physical and mental well-being. This freedom only God can give us and as Jesus says: "I give peace." For us to open ourselves up to this peace we must first trust but then also try to work on it. Our prayers, our fasting, our Confessions and our attending Masses help us to find peace because through these we encounter the King of Peace and it is He who gives us the peace. So, it is only with God's graces through prayer that we can overcome whatever it is in our hearts that is blocking us from peace. This peace does not mean that we must remain quiet but rather that we become active. To truly get involved means to first of all do so in the family and then in the community as well as among friends so that they too will open themselves up to God's peace. This peace is also possible when one suffers, when one is sick and this peace does not exclude tears. It is therefore, as mentioned already, an inner-strength with which we must confront evil and sin by opening ourselves only to goodness. We must then also continue seeking the conditions with which we can find the best manner in which to do further good. It is especially important that Mary is praying for... (to be continued)

It is sobering to know that Fr. Slavko was speaking about peace, even during the war in Bosnia. His faith had not faltered. And it is very important to me that Fr. Slavko defines peace in the heart as an "inner-strength with which one carries one's own cross in life." This understanding is crucial. Peace comes not from our circumstances, but from our faith, trust, and reliance on God to help us carry on in those circumstances.

May we grow in our faith, in our total surrender to Jesus, so that we can carry our crosses with His peace.

My add: I believe we should also pray for peace in our Church as we hear about Cardinals against Cardinals, Bishops against Bishops, priests against priests! We don't need or want a schism! May God's Will be done and Peace reign in our hearts and in the Catholic Church!

Mary TV January 17, 2017 Reflection - Pray for Peace...

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children!  Today, on this day of grace, in a special way, I am calling you to pray for peace. Children, I came here as the Queen of Peace and how many times have I called you to pray for peace. But, children, your hearts are restless. Sin is preventing you from opening yourselves completely to grace and peace which God desires to give you. To live peace, my children, is to first have peace in your hearts and to be surrendered completely to God and to His will. Do not seek peace and joy in the things of this world, because this is all passing. Long for true mercy and peace which come only from God; and only in this way will your hearts be filled with true joy; and only in this way will you be able to become witnesses of peace in this peaceless world. I am your mother and intercede before my Son for each of you. Thank you for having responded to my call." (December 25, 2016 Jakov)

Our Lady gave us a specific call through the December 25, 2016 message given to Jakov. I think she wants us to take very seriously the call to pray for peace in 2017. This is the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima! The message of Fatima was clear, to convert and to pray the Rosary for peace. Our Lady wanted her children to pray the Rosary for peace in the world, first to end World War I and then to stabilize the descent into atheism that was gripping the world. She wanted her children to pray for peace to reign in the hearts of all peoples.

Though the response in 1917 helped to end that terrible war, the subsequent years have been filled with violence and war as well. And the loss of faith has gripped most countries. So in 1981 Our Lady returned to earth, to help us in this dire time of need. She has stayed with us for 36 years now, daily visiting us and speaking to us through her visionaries. Her message is the same: convert and pray the Rosary for peace! She has also called us to live a full life of faith, with fasting, Scripture reading, Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, and works of mercy. She has told us that her coming to Medjugorje is the continuation and fulfillment of Fatima.

This year, 2017, is pivotal. It has been 100 years since the Lord sent Our Lady to Fatima to intervene in our affairs, to bring peace. Through Our Lady's presence in Fatima and now in Medjugorje, our hearts are bonded very strongly to Our Mother. She has taken us to herself in a special way. Now she needs our prayers for peace, since it is for peace that she has been sent to us.

I have gathered nine messages of Our Lady, in which she asks us to pray for peace. Denis and I propose to pray this novena for the entire year of 2017, taking a message a day to meditate on, and then to pray the Rosary in response to her call. We will do this in our Daily Rosary on Mary TV. But you can do it in your own way. We also recommend the Medjugorje Peace Chaplet, which is the Creed and 7 Our Fathers, Hail Marys, and Glory Bes. This chaplet can be said anywhere, it is simple. But Our Lady asked the visionaries to pray it in the beginning of the apparitions, and it is now said after the evening Mass in Medjugorje every day.

Let's make 2017 a year of prayer for peace, in response to Our Lady's call!

Our Lady speaks of peace:

September 25, 2002 "Dear children! Also in this peaceless time, I call you to prayer. Little children, pray for peace so that in the world every person would feel love towards peace. Only when the soul finds peace in God, it feels content and love will begin to flow in the world. And in a special way, little children, you are called to live and witness peace - peace in your hearts and families - and, through you, peace will also begin to flow in the world. Thank you for having responded to my call."
April 25, 2009 "Dear children! Today I call you all to pray for peace and to witness it in your families so that peace may become the highest treasure on this peaceless earth. I am your Queen of Peace and your mother. I desire to lead you on the way of peace, which comes only from God. Therefore, pray, pray, pray. Thank you for having responded to my call."
December 25, 2003 "Dear children! Today, when in a special way, Jesus desires to give you His peace, I call you to pray for peace in your hearts. Children, without peace in your hearts you cannot feel the love and joy of the birth of Jesus. Therefore, little children, today in a special way, open your hearts and begin to pray. Only through prayer and complete surrender, will your heart be filled with the love and peace of Jesus. I bless you with my motherly blessing."
December 25, 2008 "Dear children! Today, in a special way, I call you to pray for peace. Without God you cannot have peace or live in peace. Therefore, little children, today on this day of grace open your hearts to the King of peace, for Him to be born in you and to grant you His peace - and you be carriers of peace in this peaceless world. Thank you for having responded to my call."
October 23, 1986 "Dear children! Today again I am calling you to pray. Especially, dear children, do I call you to pray for peace. Without your prayers, dear children, I cannot help you to fulfill the message which the Lord has given me to give to you. Therefore, dear children, pray, so that in prayer you realize what God is giving you. Thank you for having responded to my call."
December 25, 1990 "Dear children! Today I invite you in a special way to pray for peace. Dear children, without peace you cannot experience the birth of the little Jesus neither today nor in your daily lives. Therefore, pray the Lord of Peace that He may protect you with His mantle and that He may help you to comprehend the greatness and the importance of peace in your heart. In this way you shall be able to spread peace from your heart throughout the whole world. I am with you and I intercede for you before God. Pray, because satan wants to destroy my plans of peace. Be reconciled with one another and by means of your lives help peace reign in the whole earth. Thank you for having responded to my call."
July 25, 1991 "Dear Children! Today I invite you to pray for peace. At this time peace is being threatened in a special way, and I am seeking from you to renew fasting and prayer in your families. Dear children, I desire you to grasp the seriousness of the situation and that much of what will happen depends on your prayers and you are praying a little bit. Dear children, I am with you and I am inviting you to begin to pray and fast seriously as in the first days of my coming. Thank you for having responded to my call."
March 25, 1993 "Dear children! Today like never I call you to pray for peace, for peace in your hearts, peace in your families and peace in the whole world, because satan wants war, wants lack of peace, wants to destroy all which is good. Therefore, dear children, pray, pray, pray. Thank you for having responded to my call."
June 25, 1995 "Dear Children! Today I am happy to see you in such great numbers, that you have responded and have come to live my messages. I invite you, little children, to be my joyful carriers of peace in this troubled world. Pray for peace so that as soon as possible a time of peace, which my heart waits impatiently for, may reign. I am near to you, little children, and intercede for every one of you before the Most High. I bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Mary TV January 16, 2017 Reflection - The things that make for peace!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

January 16, 2017
Dear Family of Mary!
Here is the Christmas Message through Jakov, once again. It is easy to lose track of it with all that takes place at Christmas:

Our Lady used the word "peace" 9 times in this message! Could she make it any clearer? Peace is really important to her. Peace is really on her mind.

Peace is more valuable than gold. And peace is more fragile than crystal. Peace makes life flourish. Peace makes for joy and hope. And God wants to give us peace. He is Peace. And He has sent Our Lady to help us receive His peace.

Do we desire peace? I think we need to change our hearts, in that we change our desires. We may desire money or a good job, power or fame, security or the pleasures of life. But they all are worthless without peace. I wonder if we understand how much we need peace. It is something to pray over.
Jesus spoke these words over Jerusalem just before his Crucifixion:
And when he drew near and saw the city he wept over it, saying, "Would that even today you knew the things that make for peace! But now they are hid from your eyes. For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies will cast up a bank about you and surround you, and hem you in on every side, and dash you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did not know the time of your visitation." (Luke 19:41-44)
I wonder if we might not be in a similar time (i.e. a time of visitation). We are in an unprecedented "visitation" of Our Lady. And she has come to be our Queen of Peace. This may be a time of grace that should not be missed. If we only knew what makes for peace!! Our Lady is showing us those very things through her messages. But are we listening? Are we living?
May we know the time of our visitation, and open our hearts to the call from God through Our Lady, the call for peace. "Today, on this day of grace, in a special way, I am calling you to pray for peace."

Mary TV January 13, 2017 Reflection - You must be smaller than others.

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

January 13, 2017
St. Hilary

Dear Family of Mary!
Well, I had another sort of Holy Spirit moment at Mass yesterday, so I'm going to share it! It was, of course, during the Eucharistic prayers. I remembered these words from Our Lady's message on January 2:
"Dear children, My Son was the source of love and light when he spoke on earth to the people of all peoples. My apostles, follow His light. This is not easy. You must be little. You must make yourselves smaller than others; with the help of faith to be filled with His love...." (January 13, 2017)

I thought about Jesus who is the source of love and light giving Himself to me at that moment on the Altar. And I realized that Jesus is truly smaller than others! Our Eucharistic Lord is so very small.
I remembered His resurrection, and how He did not make a big deal about it to the whole world. Anyone else who had been treated as Jesus was treated (i.e. tortured, reviled, spat upon and crucified before all of Jerusalem) and then was raised, would have come roaring back from the dead! It would have been the day of reckoning. All His detractors and murderers would have been slain on the spot, and the whole Roman Empire taken over by Him.
But Jesus is not anyone else! He who had the right and power to take over the whole world, came back in a most hidden and quiet way. Though the accounts vary, it seems that Jesus rose from the dead, unseen by anyone. Mary Magdalene and the women came afterwards, and only saw the empty tomb and an angel. Mary

Magdalene met Him and thought He was a gardener! Peter only saw the empty tomb and went to tell the others. Two disciples who were dejectedly walking to Emmaus encountered the Risen Christ, but they didn't recognize Him, even after miles of walking and talking together. It was only in the breaking of the bread that they realized it was Jesus, and He immediately disappeared. And then Jesus noiselessly entered into the upper room, going through the closed door, to greet His terrified Apostles! They thought He was a ghost! Not very triumphant is it!!
Even later, at the Sea of Galilee, Jesus appeared as a lone man, on the beach, cooking fish. Truly, for the Resurrected Victor over Sin and Death, Jesus' return was small. And He remained hidden and small until He ascended to the Father. And He is even smaller to this day, as the Eucharistic Lord, made present in Bread and Wine.
Well, it occurred to me that if Jesus chose to return to us in so humble a manner, when He could have stormed on the scene in power and might, then no wonder we are supposed to be small as well. We can learn from Him how to be smaller than others, to always approach our families and friends, parishes, communities and strangers with the same humility that He showed and shows us.
There must be something important about this humility. It must unlock tremendous graces for those around us. Maybe it makes it possible for them to feel love. Maybe it helps create the peace that is so desperately needed in our world today.
It certainly stands in contradiction to the powers of the world, both human and demonic. Humility is outside the comprehension of all that is evil. It only makes sense in terms of heaven, of God our Father, Jesus our Savior, and the Holy Spirit our Paraclete.
To be little means to be in right relationship with the Trinity. Then they can work in us and through us.
Our Lady is right; it is NOT easy. But it is the way to follow Jesus! He us our great example!!

So much of the world news today is filled with curiosity, and useless things that grab our attention but lead to nowhere, or have no value for our lives or eternal life. Our Lady said:

January 2, 2017
“…My children, do not waste time posing questions to which you never receive an answer…”

This is true not only for those things that we can never know the answer to, but also those things, which it is not necessary to know the answer to. Why?

Words from Heaven by a Friend of Medjugorje
The book Words from Heaven, by a Friend of Medjugorje, being run through the binder at Caritas in Alabama. These words from Our Lady in Medjugorje are the truth for today’s man, to help him understand the Biblical words that he no longer understands.

Our Lady has come to deliver real truth for our time, and real answers for things that matter, especially those things which deal with our future life. Our Lady has come with a plan that is prophetic for the purposes of helping Her children. A Friend of Medjugorje writes:

“…Do you think the whole world will change by Our Lady simply conveying a few times to pray the Rosary, go to church, be good, remember these things, good bye? The world is so grounded in its direction that Our Lady comes dressed in the color grey – a color which signifies servitude – as a servant who is ready to work, work hard, and work tirelessly to mop up the mess we have made of the world. Our Lady has encouraged us, witnessed to us, reprimanded us, and pushed us all through love, to change the direction of our lives…”1

Our Lady confirms this on January 2, 2017 when She says:

“…I am making myself known to you by these comings, by these words; I desire to witness to you my love and motherly care…”

Her witness to us, in this, Her time, through Her words and Her comings are for real news, and to answer the deepest questions for the things that really matter. Listen to Her.

Mary TV January 12, 2017 Reflection - Love one another!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2016

St. Marguerite Bourgeoys

Dear Family of Mary!

"...Therefore, my apostles, always love one another and above all, love my Son. This is the only way to salvation, to eternal life. This is my dearest prayer which fills my heart with the most beautiful scent of roses...." (January 2, 2017)

Our Lady wants us to be apostles of love. This is what will make her happy. She is our Mother. She was given that role by Jesus on the Cross, and she has lived it perfectly all these many years. She loves us with her tender and perfect heart. And she suffers when she sees us fighting among each other, envying each other, rejecting each other and even destroying each other. Imagine having children who hate each other. Imagine what it would feel like. Our Lady suffers under the weight of all the violence and pain her children cause each other.

She is our Mother. Truly our Mother. She wants us to love each other. And most of all she wants us to love Jesus. He is the one who loves us the most. And yet we reject Him, again and again, in favor of our own selfish desires. Imagine how she must feel!

But she never gives up. She never stops calling us to love one another and to love Jesus. She will never give up. This is the way to eternal life, this road of love. We will find our way to heaven through love of Jesus and of our neighbor. It is that simple.

Our Lady also said these things about love:
September 2, 2008 "Dear children, Today, with my motherly heart, I call you gathered around me to love your neighbor. My children, stop. Look in the eyes of your brother and see Jesus, my Son. If you see joy, rejoice with him. If there is pain in the eyes of your brother, with your tenderness and goodness, cast it away, because without love you are lost. Only love is effective; it works miracles. Love will give you unity in my Son and victory of my heart. Therefore, my children, love."
September 2, 2015 "Dear children, my dear apostles of love, my carriers of truth, again I am calling you and gathering you around me to help me, to help all of my children who thirst for love and truth - who thirst for my Son. I am a grace from the Heavenly Father, sent to help you to live the word of my Son. Love one another. I lived your earthly life. I know that it is not always easy, but if you will love each other, you will pray with the heart, you will reach spiritual heights and the way to heaven will be opened for you. I, your mother, am waiting for you there because I am there. Be faithful to my Son and teach others faithfulness. I am with you. I will help you. I will teach you faith that you may know how to transmit it to others in the right way. I will teach you truth that you may know how to discern. I will teach you love that you may come to know what real love is. My children, my Son will make it so as to speak through your words and your actions. Thank you."

May we rededicate ourselves to love, love first for Jesus, and then for our neighbor. 2017 will be a year of great victory, if we do so!

Mary TV January 11, 2017 Reflection - This is the love!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

January 11, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!

"...He looks at you and hears you. We are always close to you. This is the love which calls, unites, converts, encourages and fulfills..." (January 2, 2017).

I want to share a blessed moment I had recently. It is an example of the love that calls, unites, converts, encourages and fulfills.

I have always carried a bit of sadness in my heart. Not too much, but enough to make me seek gloomy thoughts and shadows when I am alone. I always thought that this was normal, and just part of life. But it has become a bit more difficult to bear recently. And so at Holy Mass one day, during the Consecration, I told Jesus about my sadness. I just admitted it to Him.

In that admission, I shed a little tear. And then I heard these words in my heart: "Don't worry. I am with you. And you are on the road to heaven! You are on the way, and I am going to stay with you until you get there. No obstacle will be able to stop you. I will stay with you. Don't worry! Be happy!" I had an image of myself climbing a rocky hill, with lots of debris and obstacles, but there was a bright light at the top, inviting me to keep going. I felt great relief in His assurance that He would stay with me to get me to heaven.

That moment did me so much good. I felt released from sadness, from accepting sadness as my inheritance. I can only say that Jesus called me, united me to Himself with His gentle words, converted me from my gloominess, encouraged me to keep going, and fulfilled me with His love. His love changed me.

I now want to encourage any of you who live with an interior disposition that is not life-giving to reach out to Jesus and Mary. They are close to us. They love us with a love that calls us out of our inner isolation, unites us to them with a bond of love, converts us from things that are destructive, encourages us to keep seeking heaven and fulfills us with their fruitful love. Jesus and Mary are looking at us and listening to us, even the faintest sigh from our soul. We are so loved!
