Mary TV: August 31, 2017 Reflection - Do not forget Satan is strong...

 (c) Mateo Ivankovic 2017

"Dear children, put on the armor for battle
and with the Rosary in your hand defeat him!"

August 31, 2017
Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Today I am calling you to be people of prayer. Pray until prayer becomes a joy for you and a meeting with the Most High. He will transform your hearts and you will become people of love and peace. Do not forget, little children, that Satan is strong and wants to draw you away from prayer. You, do not forget that prayer is the secret key of meeting with God. That is why I am with you to lead you. Do not give up on prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2017)

"Do not forget, little children, that Satan is strong and wants to draw you away from prayer."
We know that we have an enemy. Satan desires to pull us away from God and to lead us into his eternal darkness. Of course what he offers us never looks dark or bad at first. But if what we are being tempted by draws us away from prayer and meeting with God, it probably is from our enemy.
Our Lady tells us "Do not forget..." because she knows how easy it is for us to forget!! We are so easily tricked. So easily side-tracked. She has warned us throughout her time in Medjugorje about Satan's plans to destroy us. She knows his tricks and wants to protect us from them:
January 24, 1985 "Dear children! These days you have experienced God's sweetness through the renewals which have been in this parish. Satan wants to work still more fiercely to take away your joy from each one of you. By prayer you can completely disarm him and ensure your happiness. Thank you for having responded to my call."

August 8, 1985 "Dear children! Today I call you especially now to advance against satan by means of prayer. Satan wants to work still more now that you know he is at work. Dear children, put on the armor for battle and with the Rosary in your hand defeat him! Thank you for having responded to my call."

October 16, 1986 "Dear children! Today again I want to show you how much I love you, but I am sorry that I am not able to help each one to understand my love. Therefore, dear children, I am calling you to prayer and complete surrender to God, because satan wants to sift you through everyday affairs and in your life he wants to snatch the first place. Therefore, dear children, pray without ceasing! Thank you for having responded to my call."

January 25, 1994 "Dear children! You are all my children. I love you. But, little children, you must not forget that without prayer you cannot be close to me. In these times satan wants to create disorder in your hearts and in your families. Little children, do not give in. You should not allow him to lead you and your life. I love you and intercede before God for you. Little children, pray. Thank you for having responded to my call."

January 25, 2015 "Dear children! Also today I call you: live your vocation in prayer. Now, as never before, Satan wants to suffocate man and his soul by his contagious wind of hatred and unrest. In many hearts there is no joy because there is no God or prayer. Hatred and war are growing from day to day. I am calling you, little children, begin anew, with enthusiasm, the walk of holiness and love; since I have come among you because of this. Together let us be love and forgiveness for all those who know and want to love only with a human love and not with that immeasurable love of God to which God calls you. Little children, may hope in a better tomorrow always be in your heart. Thank you for having responded to my call."
Though these warnings are strong, we know that Our Lady would only speak to us about the enemy to prepare us and protect us with the truth. And the antidote to all his lies and temptations is to pray. Pray without ceasing. Pray, pray, pray. This is the weapon. Especially the Rosary. As Our Lady said: "Dear children, put on the armor for battle and with the Rosary in your hand defeat him!"
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: August 30, 2017 Reflection - "You will become people of love and peace."

 (c) Mateo Ivankovic 2017

August 30, 2017
Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! Today I am calling you to be people of prayer. Pray until prayer becomes a joy for you and a meeting with the Most High. He will transform your hearts and you will become people of love and peace. Do not forget, little children, that Satan is strong and wants to draw you away from prayer. You, do not forget that prayer is the secret key of meeting with God. That is why I am with you to lead you. Do not give up on prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2017)

"He will transform your hearts and you will become people of love and peace."

Once we have meetings with God in prayer, Our Lady says something wonderful will happen. We will become people of love and peace! But for sure we will not become such people by our own power, or by the things we learn in prayer, or the ideas we discover in the encounter with God. No, not on our own power will we be changed. "He will transform your hearts..." We will be changed by God! He will transform us with His power, His creative love.
No matter how hard we try, we cannot transform ourselves. It is impossible. Our only hope is to surrender ourselves to God in prayer, in that prayer that becomes joy for us, and then open our hearts to Him and let Him change us.
Have you ever felt God changing you? Have you ever encountered the Lord in such a way that you allowed the Lord to be your Lord, to take over with His love and pour it into you like the sun pours its rays on the earth? This is when transformation occurs. It is in the trusting encounter of Creator and creature. This loving and trusting encounter is awesome! And Our Lady wants us to know that God is waiting for us, waiting to meet us and pour out His transforming love into our poor hearts so broken by sin and pain.
"He will transform your hearts..." He WILL do it. Our Lady doesn't say that He might do it, or probably He will do it. She says, "HE WILL TRANSFORM YOUR HEARTS..." All we have to do is pray "until..."
St. Faustina recounts a moment when she had a meeting with the Most High. She shares about this meeting as a transformation during a retreat:
I am coming out of this retreat thoroughly transformed by God's love. My soul is beginning a new life, earnestly and courageously; although outwardly my life will not change, and no one will notice it, nevertheless, pure love is [now] the guide of my life and, externally, it is mercy which is its fruit. I feel that I have been totally imbued with God and, with this God, I am going back to my everyday life, so drab, tiresome and wearying, trusting that he whom I feel in my heart will change this drabness into my personal sanctity.
In profound silence, close to Your merciful Heart, my soul is maturing during this retreat. In the clear rays of your love, my soul has lost its tartness and has become a sweet and ripe fruit.
Now I can be wholly useful to the Church by my personal sanctity, which throbs with life in the whole Church, for we all make up one organism in Jesus. That is why I endeavor to make the soil of my heart bear good fruit. Although the human eye may perhaps never see it, there will nevertheless come a day when it will become apparent that many souls have been fed and will continue to be fed with this fruit.
O Eternal Love, You who enkindle a new life within me, a life of love and of mercy. Support me with Your grace, so that I may worthily answer Your call, so that what You Yourself have intended to accomplish in souls through me, might indeed be accomplished. (Diary 1363-1365)

God's love transforms us. His love can heal our wounds, our broken hearts, our sorrows and disappointments, our discouragement and despondency. These are the things that block us, making us incapable of love. He can teach us to forgive, to ask forgiveness, to long for unity and blessing. He can transform our hearts into love! Then we can become love and peace for others, we can be useful for the Church, as St. Faustina said.

Our Mother is with us to help us encounter the Lord in prayer, and to enter into His transforming love. Thank you, Mother, for coming to us to do this. We would not even know how to begin without you.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: August 29, 2017 Reflection - "Pray until..."

 (c) Mateo Ivankovic 2017

August 29, 2017
The Passion of St. John the Baptist

Dear Family of Mary!

August 25, 2017
"Dear children! Today I am calling you to be people of prayer. Pray until prayer becomes a joy for you and a meeting with the Most High. He will transform your hearts and you will become people of love and peace. Do not forget, little children, that Satan is strong and wants to draw you away from prayer. You, do not forget that prayer is the secret key of meeting with God. That is why I am with you to lead you. Do not give up on prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call."
"Pray until prayer becomes a joy for you and a meeting with the Most High."

It might be easy to pass over this sentence. But if we take a minute we can learn something here. Our Lady has always told us that we need to, "Pray until prayer becomes a joy for you." But do we really take her seriously?

The key of course is in the word "until". She doesn't say how long to pray. She doesn't give us lists of prayers to say. She merely says to "Pray until..." We should not stop praying "until" we actually have a meeting with the Most High. We need to pray "until" we are filled with joy. And we probably won't want to stop praying when the joy of the meeting with God happens! We will just continue!

Mike Nolan took a pilgrimage group to Medjugorje during the middle of August this year. He had a number of young people with him. He shared that Dominic, a college student, was asked what his favorite part of Medjugorje was.  He responded, "The Glorious Mysteries at the end of the evening program."  Dominic told Mike that after the first two Rosaries and Holy Mass, he could get deepest into prayer during the last Rosary. Mike added, "One night we didn't do the last Rosary but decided to go out to dinner right after Mass.  And Dominic and Austin (a fellow pilgrim) said, 'We will catch up with you after the last Rosary."  Clearly these young men had learned the "pray until" principle!!  They knew what it took to pray until prayer becomes a joy for you!
I also heard from Tracy Veno that she struggled with "praying until..." She wrote me about the August 25 message: "
I love this!!! One time I had to say 3 whole 15 decade rosaries before I could feel God's Joy and Love.... but it is true, it will happen :)"

Denis reminded me of some advice that Our Lady gave to Ivan Dragicevic: "If you want to pray better you have to pray more. To pray more is a personal decision. To pray better is a grace, a grace given to those who pray more!"

So you see, we just can't give up on prayer. (Our Lady said that, didn't she! "Do not give up on prayer.") The "pray until" principle tells us that we just have to give ourselves to prayer, to continue to pray, no matter what. I think it is actually an act of spiritual warfare when we don't stop praying. We actively turn away from distractions and the enemy's counterfeits, and we turn to God in prayer with conviction and strength. This will stop the enemy's attacks.

Denis also thinks that the "pray until" principle is really important. So important that Our Lady gave us the grace of having the wonderful new POV Camera at the Blue Cross (see the link at the top of our home page, www.marytv.tv  . It is at the Blue Cross that many people come to "pray until". We can now join them at that holy place.

So, let's take up the challenge! Let's pray until prayer becomes a joy for us, and we have a meeting with the Most High!!

Mary TV: August 28, 2017 Reflection - People of prayer!

 (c) Mateo Ivankovic 2017

August 28, 2017
St. Augustine

"Dear children! Today I am calling you to be people of prayer..."
Indeed, it seems that Our Lady has been working all these years to build us up into a people of prayer. She has spoken to us about prayer in almost every message. Here is a message in which she describes her hopes for us as people of prayer. She wants us to be those who are praying and sacrificing:
February 02, 2017 "Dear children, you who are striving to offer every day of your life to my Son, you who are trying to live with Him, you who are praying and sacrificing - you are hope in this peaceless world. You are rays of the light of my Son, a living gospel, and you are my beloved apostles of love. My Son is with you. He is with those who think of Him - those who pray. But in the same way, He is patiently waiting for those who do not know Him. Therefore, you, apostles of my love, pray with the heart and with your works show the love of my Son. This is the only hope for you, and this is also the only way to eternal life. I, as a mother, I am here with you. Your prayers directed to me are the most beautiful roses of love for me. I cannot but be where I sense the scent of roses. There is hope. Thank you."
Our Lady needs us to be hope for this world. As we offer every day of our lives to Jesus, living with Him, praying to Him, sacrificing with Him, we become hope for the world. Our prayers also are directed to Our Lady, and they become roses of love for her. She comes where there are roses! She tells us there is hope, because we are people who pray.
Also, Our Lady has called us to pray with others:
September 25, 2000 "Dear children! Today I call you to open yourselves to prayer. May prayer become joy for you. Renew prayer in your families and form prayer groups. In this way, you will experience joy in prayer and togetherness. All those who pray and are members of prayer groups are open to God's will in their hearts and joyfully witness God's love. I am with you, I carry all of you in my heart and I bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call."

When we open ourselves to prayer, we become people of prayer. Prayer becomes a joy for us. And we soon begin to pray with others, in prayer groups and in our families so that we will experience being part of the family of God. We become part of the great family of prayer. In this way, through our communal prayer, we begin to open to God's will. This is very important to Our Lady, because it is then that we become witnesses for those who do not yet know the love of Jesus.
So you can see that being people of prayer is very important. If we pray, pray, pray, we will become hope for this world, and witnesses of the love of God for those who do not know Him. Being people of prayer is a high calling, and one that we all can follow, no matter our state in life. May we all become people of prayer!

Dear Family of Mary TV,
INCREDIBLE NEWS! You can now pray at the Blue Cross in Medjugorje at any time of day or night, from any place in the world!
This link to the live camera shot, http://marytv.tv/?page_id=2363 , can be found at the very top of Mary TV's web page.
Your prayers and donations have made this special place of prayer in Medjugorje accessible to all of Our Lady's children - 24/7 - just when she's telling us: "Dear children! Today I am calling you to be people of prayer!"*
I'm told this feat is nothing short of a miracle. For example, there is no clear "line of sight" to our building. The signal has to travel 1.3 miles and make its way around buildings and trees. AND IT'S WORKING! We didn't really know what the camera would see. AND ITS PERFECT!
This must give Our Lady joy.... In the "Prayer to the Mother of Goodness, Love and Mercy", that she dictated to Jelena Vasilj on April 19, 1983, Our Lady included these words for us to pray to her: "Give us the grace to be merciful towards you!" Putting modern communications technologies at her disposal in Medjugorje so her children can stand by her side in prayer as she intercedes for the whole world is doing exactly that, being merciful to our Mother. "My Son promised me that evil will never win because you, the souls of the just, are here"
A big THANK YOU to all our donors. This is a labor of love from us all. Some unexpected larger donations came in just before the youth festival - when Our Lady had told us: "Be ready. This time is a turning point!" Without them we would not have been able to move forward as we have done.
Mary TV's team consists of volunteers, some of whom receive small stipends. No one gets a full salary....   And donations right now aren't really covering monthly expenses....but somehow Providence takes care. For example, Rosie hadn't told me that she was short 1,800 Euros to pay this year's rent for Mary TV's Tea House in Medjugorje. I just found out that on the day the rent was due (May 1st, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker) someone walked into the Tea House, placed 1,800 Euros into Rosie's hand, turned around and walked out! (Thank you, who ever you are!!)**
Here is the link for how you can be part of this marvelous work for Our Lady:
Thank you and God bless you!

** I just can' keep from sharing one more little story: Franjo and Rosie will be traveling to the US soon to greet their first grandchild (Yes, Josip and Christina are about to have a baby)!   Franjo was late applying for a Visa....The family was a little nervous he might be cutting it too short. He was greeted last week when he walked into the US Embassy in Sarajevo, with: "Hi Franjo! How's Rosie?" He was greeted warmly and given "red carpet" treatment! People at the Embassy are familiar with Mary TV and watch it regularly!

August 24, 2017 Reflection -There is no duplicity in him...

(c) Mateo Ivankovic 2017
August 24, 2017
St. Bartholomew, Apostle

Dear Family of Mary!

Today we celebrate St. Bartholomew, also called Nathaniel. The Gospel tells us of Nathaniel's first meeting with Jesus. And Jesus gives Nathaniel a compliment:
Philip found Nathanael and told him,
"We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law,
and also the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth."
But Nathanael said to him,
"Can anything good come from Nazareth?"
Philip said to him, "Come and see."
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him,
"Here is a true child of Israel.
There is no duplicity in him." (Jn 1:45-47)
Jesus perceived that Nathaniel was an honest man, one who always said what he meant and did not intend to manipulate or use anyone. Another word for duplicity is guile. The dictionary tells us this about duplicity:
Duplicity: deceitfulness; double-dealing.
synonyms: deceitfulness · deceit · deception · double-dealing · underhandedness · dishonesty · fraud · fraudulence · sharp practice · chicanery · trickery · subterfuge · skullduggery · treachery · crookedness · shadiness · dirty tricks · shenanigans · monkey business · perfidy
Clearly someone who is duplicitous is not to be trusted. They have no regard for the truth. They are willing to say whatever will serve their purposes, get them what they desire, and convince others to do as they wish.
Nathaniel was not one of those. We might think of some others in Scripture who were duplicitous. Judas comes to mind. He lived with Jesus and Nathaniel for many months, but he was able to kiss Jesus in greeting at the very same moment he was betraying Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
Our Lady knew both of these men. She understood their hearts. Quietly she prayed for both of them, as she followed Jesus' public ministry. And so she tells us often to live in truth. Her last 25th message is about truth:
July 25, 2017
"Dear children! Be prayer and a reflection of God's love for all those who are far from God and God's commandments. Little children, be faithful and determined in conversion and work on yourselves so that, for you, holiness of life may be truth; and encourage each other in the good through prayer, so that your life on earth may be more pleasant. Thank you for having responded to my call."
Our holiness must not be for show. Our devotion cannot just be an outward display. That is duplicitous. Our way of life must be true, must come from our heart, and must be authentic. Nathaniel was authentic. We want to be authentic. It means that we live from the heart, and are deeply honest with ourselves, with God, and with one another.
To do this we must "be faithful and determined in conversion and work on [ourselves] so that, for [us], holiness of life may be truth." It takes prayer and work to remain honest and sincere, choosing the good and encouraging others in the good. But the fruit of such hard work is peace of heart, joy and love!

Mary TV: August 23, 2017 Reflection -With all the strength of my heart, I love you...

 (c) Mateo Ivankovic 2017

August 23, 2017
St. Rose of Lima
Dear Family of Mary!
January 2, 2008 "Dear children! With all the strength of my heart, I love you and give myself to you. As a mother fights for her children, I pray and fight for you. I ask you not to be afraid to open yourselves, so as to be able to love with the heart and give yourselves to others. The more that you do this with the heart, the more you will receive and the better you will understand my Son and His gift to you. Through the love of my Son and me, may you all be recognized. Thank you."
"Dear children! With all the strength of my heart, I love you and give myself to you."
Can you imagine a heart stronger than Our Lady's heart? She said "yes" to the Father and accepted His Son in her womb, knowing she would be misunderstood by many. But her heart was strong. Mary ran to help Elizabeth without a thought to her own needs, because her heart was strong! When the only shelter available was a stable, she gave birth to Jesus there without complaint because her heart was strong. She received the prophecy of Simeon, that a sword would pierce her heart too, but she did not shrink back because her heart was strong. She fled with Joseph and little Jesus into Egypt because Herod wanted to kill her Child. But her heart was strong. When Jesus was misunderstood and opposed she stood beside Him. Her heart was strong. When Jesus was mocked, scourged, crowned with thorns, given His cross, and crucified upon it, she stood very near. She did not blink. Her heart was strong with love. And the Resurrection and Ascension only made her heart stronger still, until the Spirit came through her heart, as she interceded for the new Church at Pentecost. Her heart was so strong.
This is the heart with which Mary loves us today! This is the love she pours out upon us. Indeed, this is the heart that fights for us: "As a mother fights for her children, I pray and fight for you."
Our Lady fights for us. She never gives up. No matter how we fail, no matter how weak we are, she stands by our side to help us get up and try again. She intercedes for us to the Father and the Son, and she runs interference for us when our enemies attack. She is tireless on our behalf. We should be filled with confidence in her motherly protection.

"I ask you not to be afraid to open yourselves, so as to be able to love with the heart and give yourselves to others."
So what does she ask of us in return? She asks us not to be afraid, to open ourselves to the needs of others, to show them the love we have received from her. Pass it on! Give what we have been given. Be those who fight for others, who are tireless is loving those around us. Pay it forward!!
"The more that you do this with the heart, the more you will receive and the better you will understand my Son and His gift to you."
The more we love the more we will understand what Jesus has been doing for us all along. The more we will understand Our Lady. We will "get it". And together with Our Lady we will begin to spread that love everywhere.
"Through the love of my Son and me, may you all be recognized. Thank you."

Mary TV: August 22, 2017 Reflection - Hail, Holy Queen!!

 (c) Mateo Ivankovic 2017

August 22, 2017
The Queenship of Mary!

Dear Family of Mary!
April 2, 2012 "Dear children, As the Queen of Peace, I desire to give peace to you, my children, true peace which comes through the heart of my Divine Son. As a mother I pray that wisdom, humility and goodness may come to reign in your hearts; that peace may reign; that my Son may reign. When my Son will be the ruler in your hearts, you will be able to help others to come to know Him. When heavenly peace comes to rule over you, those who are seeking it in the wrong places, thus causing pain to my motherly heart, will recognize it. My children, great will be my joy when I see that you are accepting my words and that you desire to follow me. Do not be afraid, you are not alone. Give me your hands and I will lead you. Do not forget your shepherds. Pray that in their thoughts they may always be with my Son who called them to witness Him. Thank you."

With such a Queen, we are the happiest of subjects! She gives us her hands and leads us into the Kingdom of her Son, which is heaven!! Let's sing to her today!
Salve, Regina
Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;
vita, dulcedo et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Hevae.
Ad te suspiramus gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia ergo, advocata nostra,
illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte.
Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens, o pia, o dulcis Virgo Maria.
V. Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genitrix.
R. Ut digni efficamur promissionibus Christi.
Oremus. Amen.

Hail, holy Queen
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee to we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray. Almighty and everlasting God, Who by the working of the Holy Spirit didst prepare both body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mother, Mary, that she might deserve to be made a worthy dwelling for Thy Son, grant that we who rejoice in her memory, may, by her loving intercession, be delivered from present evils and from lasting death, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mary TV: August 21, 2017 Reflection - A message through Ivan

St. Pius X

Dear Family of Mary!

Last Friday, Ivan and his prayer group met at the Blue Cross, and at 10:00 pm Our Lady appeared. I have the rough translation of Ivan's comments for you. I am always impressed that Our Lady comes with her Motherly Greeting, and gives her Motherly Blessing! Don't we need them both!

Ivan Dragicevic, Apparition at the Blue Cross - Friday, August 18, 2017
Tonight also I report to you what was most important from tonight's meeting with Our Lady.
Also tonight Our Lady came to us joyful, and happy and she greeted all of us with her Motherly greeting, "Praised be Jesus, my dear children." And then she stayed for a longer while, praying with extended arms, especially praying over all those present who are sick here.
Then Our Lady in a special way tonight prayed for peace. Peace in the world. And she said:
Dear children, as if today I desire to again call you to pray for peace. Peace in your hearts. Peace in your families. Know, dear children, that I pray for all of you. And I pray before my Son and intercede before my Son for all of you. Thank you, dear children, for your perseverance and thank you for also having responded to my call today."
After that Our Lady blessed us with her Motherly blessing. She blessed all that you brought to be blessed.
As always also tonight I recommended all of you, your needs and your intentions, your families. And then Our Lady continued for a while to pray over all of us, and in that prayer she left in an illuminated Sign of the Cross she left with the greeting, "Go in peace, my dear children."
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

"All indications are that the apparitions will be recognized," Archbishop Hoser responds to charges against Medjugorie.

[Translated from Polish by Google.com]

Abp Hoser, as a special envoy of Pope Francis to Medjugor, reveals the backstage of his work.

"In Medjugorje, everything is going in the right direction," says Archbishop Henryk Hoser, who examines as a delegate of the Holy See the pastoral situation in this extraordinary place, where 2.5 million pilgrims arrive each year.

Abp Hoser positively evaluates pastoral work and its fruits. And when asked about the possibility of recognizing the apparitions, he replies: "Everything indicates that the apparitions will be recognized, perhaps even this year.

Alina Petrowa-Wasilewicz, Marcin Przeciszewski, KAI: "Gaining a profound knowledge of the situation in Medjugorje" was the mission of the Archbishop, commissioned by the Holy See. In the village where the alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary have been preserved since 1981, the Archbishop visited the church at the turn of March and April, and is currently preparing a report for the Holy See. What are the conclusions?

Abp Henryk Hoser: I think that in-depth knowledge of the events in Medjugorje is not possible, because we penetrate the mystery of God and the mystery of man. And these are the secrets that can not be seen. To do this, you can approach phenomena and assess the situation as widely and deeply as possible, but it will never be exhaustive. There are spiritual things, very often surprising and profound, but only the Lord knows what is in the heart of man.

In total, in Bosnia and Herzegovina I stayed two weeks, because outside Medjugorje I visited Sarajevo and the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop. Luigi Pezzuto and I met with all the bishops of this country. And back, I met Cardinal. Christophem Schoenborn in Vienna.

What struck the Archbishop most during his stay in Medjugorje?

Knowing several other sites of the apparitions of Our Lady in the world and pilgrim sites such as Fatima, Lourdes, Lisieux and Czestochowa, I see the strong character of Medjugorje. It is expressed, among others. In the huge growth dynamics of this place and at the same time the extraordinary creativity of the works that are there. This is not in other places.

How can describe the atmosphere of Medjugorje, spirituality?

With a few simple words: prayer, silence, focus, Eucharist, adoration, fasting, sacrament of reconciliation. These are the strengths of this place. The people they talk to see the extraordinary atmosphere of concentration. And silence.

All forms require silence. Adoration services are very well developed. Of course, there is a Marian cult, but it is essentially Christlike. There are all classical services: the Way of the Cross, the Rosary - walking from Podbrdo, where the apparitions took place to Kriżevac.

All this topography is the natural backdrop of this place. There are touching moments when people, even very athletes, are kneeling on the knees on the hill of apparitions. The stones are a little polished.

The specifics of the place is also eliminating tourist elements. Franciscans are very sensitized at this point. It is a purely pilgrimage place, no one comes to satisfy curiosity.

It's a commercial aspect, but at a fairly high level, like a bookstore with very beautiful devotional items made on site. But focus and adoration dominate. The palette of proposals for pilgrims is very rich, with two daily pilgrimages. All remain faithful pastoral care.

When looking at arriving people, the pilgrims make an impression?

Everyone is very happy. When I met them, they were happy, they were very open. And there are representatives of all generations, there is no domination of specific age groups. Young people help older people, for example young Cenacolo members bring on the specific "sediach gestatoria" disabled on the Podbrdo. It is not high, but you have to walk on the rocks. Is there a Kriżevać, which has a high altitude. It's hard work.

What pilgrims do pilgrims receive, what sacramental and spiritual ministry can they count on? What formation do they receive?

As in other pilgrimage centers, there is prayer, liturgy and the visitation of places where, according to the message, revelations were made. On every Friday is the Way of the Cross to the mountain Kriżevac.

And the liturgy in the church in Medjugorje is arranged in a weekly cycle. Everyday there is morning Mass, in the afternoon the Rosary is recited. The evening block starts a conference or a joint prayer. On the 18th is the main Mass, followed by a prayer of thanksgiving for healing. The adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is celebrated. On Friday the cross is adored. In this way Mass. And Christ is always at the center of the events.

There are also mass events, such as the youth festival. It takes place in July and takes part in it 50-70 thousand. Young people from all over the world. And since they do not fit in the church, a huge, flat amphitheater with a half-altar under the roof was built behind the church. There are several thousand seats on folding chairs. Infrastructure is thus assured, though insufficient, and the Franciscans are not allowed to expand what it is.

But in addition to this, in Medjugorje, a very strong accent is placed on Christian formation - through various forms of catechesis, retreats or seminars. Twenty-two times a year, there are seminars that collect hundreds of people from dozens of countries. Franciscans organize them.

They are held in the Domus Pacis retreat center built by them, and if the groups are larger, there is a building called the Aula of John Paul II. It houses several hundred people, consists of several modules, so that depending on the needs may be longer or shorter.

Translation is excellent. There is a special room, at the Medjugorje Radio house there are 18 cabins for translation into different languages. One of them is Polish. Every translator has a screen in front of him that broadcasts celebrations from the church or other places in Medjugorje. Cameras are installed everywhere. Each translated language is broadcast on different frequencies, which pilgrims can receive on their own cells.

Ordinary pilgrim who arrives there, can attend seminars?

Yes. This is a standard feature of the program. Seminars are aimed at deepening the faith of pilgrims. There are also seminars for group guides that come to Medjugorje. The point is to let those who guide others grow spiritually so that pilgrims receive proper formation.

Specialized seminars are also organized, eg for priests. Priests from all over the world come in early July for a week's stay. Its program consists of, among others. Visiting places of pilgrimage, participation in liturgy, thematic conferences. There are also seminars for married couples and families and for medical professionals.

For two to three years, seminars are held for people interested in the pro life. Separate seminars are designed for wounded people, those who have survived a dramatic situation or have done something wrong and need to be healed.

What is the geography of the pilgrimage to Medjugorje?

The largest groups come from Italy and Poland. At present the number of pilgrims from these countries is comparable. And the arrivals come from eighty countries: North and South America, Australia and New Zealand, the Philippines. They come from all over the world. There are many pilgrims from South Korea.

It must be remembered that Medjugorje has its world network. It has many centers, so called. Peace Centers in Spain, Germany, South America. In Poland such a center is located in Piotrków Trybunalski. He publishes a bulletin in Polish, all websites run websites. They are also present in social media, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

The Custosian sanctuary is Franciscan ...

Medjugorje is not a sanctuary, such status has not been granted to him yet. It is a parish, for centuries entrusted to the care of the Franciscans. There are twelve fathers, not a big band, but they work very well. I admire their commitment. There is a very good atmosphere in the religious community.

In addition to the Franciscan pilgrims, the resident priests of Italy, the Pole of the Diocese of Warmia and the Dominican of English are living there. All in all a small team. In addition, they are served by priests who come there.

It is worth noting that the Franciscans focus on spiritual ministry and do not provide, for example, accommodation for pilgrims. Apart from Domus Pacis they do not run the hotels, because the local hotels themselves build these. The same is true in Licheau or Lourdes, which is the second hotel city in France, after Paris. Coaches are in all the streets, there are also restaurants, shops with devotional.

The Archbishop, what is the biggest phenomenon in Medjugorje, besides of course the supposed revelations?

The phenomenon of Medjugorje is confession. On the sides of the church. St. Jacob's are two long, specially built pavilions, in which there are fifty confessional. They are covered, so do not mind the heat or rain. People are standing in long queues and have the opportunity to hold confession in several languages.

I talked with confessors working on site. They said that it was enough to listen to confession for an hour to witness real conversions. There is a great deal of deep confession, which is the general confession. Often, somebody confesses after several dozen years, because his grace so touched so strongly. Just one hour.

Who is confessing

Mostly Franciscans, but they also benefit from the ministry of priests who come with pilgrim groups. These priests must register in the pilgrimage office, show a valid celebret, and only then will they receive the identifier, which authorizes them to perform liturgical activities, also to hear confession.

Another characteristic of Medjugorje are many works of mercy.

In addition to the formation dimension, the next major development in Medjugorje is charity. Over the years, there was a great charismatic Franciscan Father Slavko Barbaric. It was the volcano of energy that made all the initiatives that exist today.

After a dozen or so years of activity, he died suddenly in Križevac in 2000. He created, among others. Mary's Village, composed of a whole colony of houses. There are biological or social orphans living in these homes, unfit children, with problems. Their children also come from the village and the surrounding area.

Permanent residents live in "nests" with two adult carers - volunteers. Among them are, among others. Sisters Franciscan. These "nests" are furnished like normal dwellings, and the groups are small, about eight people. This provides a family atmosphere.

Children have medical care, dental care, because the village has medical or psychological surgery.

The second such place is the House of the Merciful Father, referring in its name to the parable of the Prodigal Son. Men live there after the transitions - drug addicts, former prisoners, alcoholics, addicts. They live according to the Benedictine principle "Ora et labora" - they learn to pray and work. There are various atelier sites where devotional works. I watched a tattooed man who made holes in rosary beads with a small whistle.

The House of the Merciful Father also has a farm and gardens where these men work, which is important for their therapy. There are pigs on the farm because the "nurses" are to remember the fate of the prodigal son who landed among the pigs when he left the Father. In fact, it became a direct motive for conversion. The Franciscan Center is run by rehabilitated men. They have such a "nose" that no cheater or drug addict will get them.

There is also the Mother House of Kryspina for single mothers with children and pregnant women. Residents may stay there until they become independent.

These charities are the fruit of faith in this place. In other great pilgrimage centers such works are not on a similar scale. There are several in Lourdes - but for the sick for short stays. However, there are no centers where residents will stay permanently or for a long time.

In Medjugorje also spiritual communities are born.

Like mushrooms after rain. Many come from outside and implant there, for example the Italian Cenacolo, who takes care of the young people after the transitions. A strange phenomenon, because tattooed skeanheads behave like ministers. During the liturgy they dance, sing, are very engaged, do not get bored.

There is the French Community of the Beatitudes. It has international composition: Italian, French, Austrian, with twelve people. They have a beautiful house, two chapels. They work internationally, one of the sisters writing books, published all over the world.

In total there are about thirty groups and communities there. I was not able to reach everyone. Among them are quite new, which in Medjugorje began to hatch. One of them has an ecumenical attitude, oriented to the East, to Ukraine. It is headed by a Ukrainian Catholic, a Roman rite. They seek and discern their way. I had discussions with all the superiors of the communities I visited.

And how does he show in Medjugorje the matter of healing?

There is daily prayer for healing. It is not unusual, we pray in every parish. In Medjugorje healing takes place. And their documentation is stored in a professionally maintained local archive. Medical documentation of each case is collected there. Just like in Lourdes or other sanctuaries of a longer tradition.

If you mention the words of the Lord Jesus: "After the fruits and you will know," the conclusion on the phenomenon of Medjugorje can be only one?

There is a very spiritual atmosphere. And new initiatives, such as the annual March of Peace, have begun, which began during the Balkan war in the nineties. They are eleven kilometers from Humak, where there is also a Franciscan monastery, to Medjugorje.

They pray for peace and want to pass this prayer to the whole world. Our Lady revealed herself as the Queen of Peace. And this march began at the time of the war. At that time Barbaric took care of war orphans.

The Archbishop stresses the strong Christocentrism around which the pastoral ministry in Medjugorje is concentrated  . He says there are no problems with orthodoxy, but there are tensions and difficult relations between the Franciscans and the local bishop.

- Yes, there are some problems of canonical-administrative nature, but - in my opinion - they are to solve. On the other hand, I did not research the content of the apparitions, because it is not my role.

But I could see that there are basically no doctrinal errors in their content. It is true that people often say that they are strangely expressive. But they are people who do not have a theological formation, so they express themselves as they feel and can.

Looking at the Marian apparitions in other parts of the world, we find that just as none of the visionaries had a theological education, Bernadette of Lourdes could not even write, the children of Fatima - Hyacinth, Lucija, and Francis.

Lucy received only a solid formation from the Order later. She could publish, and like those of Medjugorje, she has had lifelong revelations. Medjugorje viewers have still had revelations to date, and it has been calculated that there have been 40,000 so far. In my opinion this is not an important obstacle.

And when I talked to the seers, it struck me that they were very balanced people. I saw four of them. These are the ladies, who during the first apparitions in 1981 were teenagers and today have grandchildren. They all started a family.

In any case, the story of the family in these apparitions is very strong. Some people complain that they have not become priests or nuns, such as Lucia Santos. But the world has changed since then and the law is not the only way to achieve a Christian vocation. These people live in the world and have gone the way of the sacrament of marriage. Very good, because they can show the beauty of family life, which in today's world is very threatened.

Medjugorje is on the one hand - as the archbishop emphasizes - a place very spiritually fruitful, with a good atmosphere of focus and adoration, where doctrinal errors or other deviations can not be identified. On the other hand, we have very difficult relations with the bishop of the place, Ratko Peric. Is not that paradox?

The position of Bishop Peric, which is negative, is known. Since the onset of the apparitions we have already another Ordinary. The first, whose ministry began to revelations, Bishop Pavel Žanić, who died in 2003, believed that this was a scam. The present is a continuation of this attitude. He claims that these revelations are not supernatural.

Meanwhile, in the apparitions of Medjugorje, Our Lady does not propose anything other than what the Church appeals to in the Great Lent. And this is fasting, prayer and alms. Medjugorje practices fasting on Wednesday and Friday (bread and water), constant prayer is being held, and as far as alms, numerous social works have arisen here.

There is also a weekly "bread and water" retreat. Their participants get bread and water three times a day. Bread eat very slowly, the meal lasts about an hour. They keep the bread in their mouths long enough to remember its taste.

And how does Bishop Peric refer to pastoral fruit, do they not persuade him?

This is analogous to some other Marian apparitions, such as those from Ile-Bouchard, France in 1947. They were not recognized, but were also worshiped. The Marian cult does not have to exist in conjunction with the apparitions.

And even more so, this cult is understood in Medjugorje, where Our Lady presents herself as the Queen of Peace. It's nothing new or disturbing. This is one of the calls from the Loretto Loretto. There are lots of parishes around the world under this call. A famous Polish artist, Mariusz Drapikowski, performs altars for the sanctuaries of Our Lady of Peace in Bethlehem, Kazakhstan, Jamusukro, Kibeho.

And if we look at the sanctuary in Kibeho, the analogy with Medjugorje is clear. At first, the local Bishop JB Gahamanyi allowed him to worship there, and later he continued to study the truth of the apparitions. I am convinced that any bans on worship or arrivals to Medjugorje will not be justified.

Therefore, at the Sunday Mass in Medjugorje, which I celebrated for the faithful, I said that this cult must be developed. There are no doctrinal or canonical obstacles to worship the Mother of God anywhere in the world.

And is it possible to recognize the truthfulness of these apparitions by the Apostolic See if the bishop of the place considers them untrue?

It is possible. I heard that the Vatican committee, which worked under cardinal command. Camilo Ruini has ruled that the first seven apparitions are true, though not officially published. Later on, she did not speak out, because she came away from the assumption that you have to see what their effects will be.

There have been allegations that the revelations in Medjugorje are too numerous to say that Our Lady is too talkative?

You can call Saint. Faustina, who spoke to Jesus every day for many years. This should not be a major obstacle. Of course, you need to be sensitive to every aspect, also the possibility of mental disorders and be careful about the attitude of "haunting". However, the spectators were thoroughly examined by a team of eminent specialists, psychiatrists and psychologists. No pathology was found. It was healthy young people from healthy families.

To this day, they all live in marriages and no one breaks up. None of the seers has passed through the crisis of faith. Jakov Czolo, the youngest of them, who was at the age of ten, is very much developing the spirituality of Medjugorje. He runs the "Hands of Mary", a type of Caritas parish, because the Mother of God told him that we should be "Her hands" to the poor and needy.

Or is the cause of the bishop's past historic, since the whole of the Balkans was once Franciscan, which generated conflicts with the hierarchy?

It was a difficult phase when the Franciscans had to give their dioceses parishes. And people disagreed, because the Franciscans have been there for centuries and have survived the most difficult times in Turkey. There are five parishes in Bosnia, for which the diocese is in dispute with the Franciscans. But today the prevailing attitude of dialogue and conversations between bishops and Franciscans are under way.

What conclusions does the Archbishop have in his report to the Holy See, or will it break the secret?

I can only say that the conclusions are positive. In fact, the Holy Father already on the plane, returning from Fatima, spoke about Medjugorje, and now sent card. Simoni from Albania and asked him to preach a good word there.

I think everything is going in the right direction. My mission was not to close Medjugorje, but to evaluate whether the pastoral ministry was proper, consistent with the doctrine and teaching of the Church, effective and well organized. I conclude that this is the case. On the pastoral side my assessment is very positive. Thus, the ongoing pastoral activities, liturgical order and conferences should continue.

And does the Archbishop propose some improvements, reforms?

There is much to do in the sphere of infrastructure, legal and administrative. There must be, for example, a common spatial plan, because everything that is there is built a bit chaotically. For security, the whole area should be fenced, because it is the gateway, but there is no fence at the back of the fence, though there is a uniformed ward that eliminates those who come for other purposes than the pious.

And after the report of the Archbishop, is it possible to change the position regarding the organization of pilgrimages by the Church, which is currently prohibited?

You can go on pilgrimage. On the other hand, it was not possible to organize official pilgrimage with the participation of bishops, etc. But it is not up to date. After all, there were four cardinals, many bishops and thousands of priests who accompanied the faithful. The situation today is that pilgrimages should not organize official church structures, dioceses or parishes. However, groups of the faithful may come with the priest.

Anyway, this movement will not stop and should not be stopped, because good fruit grows out of it. It is one of the most living places of prayer and conversion in Europe - with a healthy spirituality.

Can the Archbishop's report contribute to the recognition of the apparitions?

Not directly because it is something else. All indications are that the revelations will be recognized, perhaps even this year. Let us not forget that the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has provided all documentation concerning the apparitions to the State Secretariat, which is now working on it.

Specifically, I think it is possible to recognize the authenticity of the first apparitions as proposed by the cardinal commission. Ruini. Besides, it is difficult to get another verdict, because it is difficult to believe that six seers will lie for 36 years. What they say is consistent. There are no people haunted or mentally disturbed. The powerful argument for the authenticity of the apparitions is
Faithfulness to the doctrine of the Church.

If the revelations, and at least the first seven, will be recognized, this will be a tremendous stimulus for Medjugorje.

Would your Archbishop's diocese recommend a trip to Medjugorje?

Of course. I would say that it is a pilgrimage of spiritual transformation, conversion and consolidation of faith - because all these elements are realized there.

Thank you for the interview.

Mary TV: August 18, 2017 Reflection - My children, I need you!

 (c) Mateo Ivankovic 2017

August 18, 2017
Dear Family of Mary!

Here is our homework for the weekend! I have gathered these messages in which Our Lady has told us that she needs us. I believe that she really does need us. As our world heats up with civil unrest and international discord, we are all feeling the urgency of Our Lady's call. She needs us now more than ever. She needs us to become carriers of her peace and love.

And so I offer these messages for our prayer this weekend. let's take our time, and read them carefully.  No hurry.  We want to respond to Our Lady's need! Let's allow her messages to help us to understand what it is she needs from us and how to respond to her call. Pray, pray, pray, little children!!

February 25, 1992 "Dear children! Today I invite you to draw still closer to God through prayer. Only that way will I be able to help you and to protect you from every attack of satan. I am with you and I intercede for you with God, that He protect you. But I need your prayers and your - "Yes." You get lost easily in material and human things, and forget that God is your greatest friend. Therefore, my dear little children, draw close to God so He may protect you and guard you from every evil. Thank you for having responded to my call!"
November 2, 2004 "Dear children, I need you. I call you and ask for your help. Make peace with yourselves, with God and with your neighbors. Then help me. Convert unbelievers. Wipe the tears from my face."
July 2, 2009 "Dear children! I am calling you because I need you. I need hearts ready for immeasurable love. Hearts that are not burdened by vanity. Hearts that are ready to love as my Son loved, that are ready to sacrifice themselves as my Son sacrificed Himself. I need you. In order to come with me, forgive yourselves, forgive others and adore my Son. Adore Him also for those who have not come to know Him, those who do not love Him. Therefore, I need you. Therefore, I call you. Thank you."
September 02, 2012 "Dear children, as my eyes are looking at you, my soul is seeking those souls with whom it desires to be one - the souls who have understood the importance of prayer for those of my children who have not come to know the love of the Heavenly Father. I am calling you because I need you. Accept the mission and do not be afraid, I will strengthen you. I will fill you with my graces. With my love I will protect you from the evil spirit. I will be with you. With my presence I will console you in difficult moments. Thank you for your open hearts. Pray for priests. Pray that the unity between my Son and them may be all the stronger, that they may be one. Thank you."
January 02, 2013 "Dear children, with much love and patience I strive to make your hearts like unto mine. I strive, by my example, to teach you humility, wisdom and love because I need you; I cannot do without you my children. According to God's will I am choosing you, by His strength I am strengthening you. Therefore, my children, do not be afraid to open your hearts to me. I will give them to my Son and in return, He will give you the gift of Divine peace. You will carry it to all those whom you meet, you will witness God's love with your life and you will give the gift of my Son through yourselves. Through reconciliation, fasting and prayer, I will lead you. Immeasurable is my love. Do not be afraid. My children, pray for the shepherds. May your lips be shut to every judgment, because do not forget that my Son has chosen them and only He has the right to judge. Thank you."
November 02, 2014 "Dear children, I am with you with the blessing of my Son, with you who love me and who strive to follow me. I also desire to be with you who do not accept me. To all of you I am opening my heart full of love and I am blessing you with my motherly hands. I am a mother who understands you. I lived your life and lived through your sufferings and joys. You who are living in pain understand my pain and suffering because of those of my children who do not permit the light of my Son to illuminate them; those of my children who are living in darkness. This is why I need you - you who have been illuminated by the light and have comprehended the truth. I am calling you to adore my Son so that your soul may grow and reach true spirituality. My apostles, it is then that you will be able to help me. To help me means to pray for those who have not come to know the love of my Son. In praying for them you are showing to my Son that you love Him and follow Him. My Son promised me that evil will never win, because you, the souls of the just, are here; you who strive to say your prayers with the heart; you who offer your pain and suffering to my Son; you who comprehend that life is only a blink; you who yearn for the Kingdom of Heaven. All of this makes you my apostles and leads you towards the victory of my heart. Therefore, my children, purify your hearts and adore my Son. Thank you."
May 02, 2015 "Dear children, open your hearts and try to feel how much I love you and how much I desire for you to love my Son. I desire for you to come to know Him all the better, because it is impossible to know Him and not to love Him - because He is love. I, my children, know you. I know your pain and suffering because I lived through them. I laugh with you in your joy and I cry with you in your pain. I will never leave you. I will always speak to you with motherly tenderness. And I, as a mother, need your open hearts to spread the love of my Son with wisdom and simplicity. I need you to be open and sensitive to the good and mercy. I need you to be united with my Son, because I desire for you to be happy and to help me to bring happiness to all of my children. My apostles, I need you to show everyone the truth of God, so that my heart, which suffered and today suffers so much pain, can win in love. Pray for the holiness of your shepherds, so that in the name of my Son they can work miracles, because holiness works miracles. Thank you."
March 18, 2010  "Dear children! Today I call you to love with all your heart and with all your soul. Pray for the gift of love, because when the soul loves it calls my Son to itself. My Son does not refuse those who call Him and who desire to live according to Him. Pray for those who do not comprehend love, who do not understand what it means to love. Pray that God may be their Father and not their Judge. My children, you be my apostles, be my river of love. I need you. Thank you."

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
