Dear Family of Mary!

On October 28, 2016 Ivan Dragicevic met with his prayer group on Apparition Hill. Here is the translation of his comments after the apparition that night.

Message through Ivan, October 28, 2016

After the meeting with Our Lady, I would like to draw closer to you and  describe to you tonight's meeting.  Also today she came to us joyful and happy.  At the beginning she greeted all of us with the motherly greeting
"Praised be Jesus, my dear children."

Then Our Lady especially prayed here over all of you present who are sick.  Then with her arms extended she prayed over all of us.

Afterward Our Lady said,

"Dear children, also today in a special way I desire to call you to open your hearts to my messages that I am giving you.  And I call you to pray for peace.  Peace dear children.  May it be. The mother prays for all of you. And intercedes for all of you before her Son.  Thank you dear children, also today for having responded to my call."

Afterwards Our Lady blessed all of us with her motherly blessing, and she blessed all of your religious articles that you brought to be blessed.  I recommended all of you, your needs and your intentions. your families, and in a special way the sick.

Then Our Lady continued to pray and in that prayer she left in an illuminated sign of the cross, saying
"Go in peace, my dear children."

This is an approximate translation.

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Today I am calling you: pray for peace. Leave selfishness and live the messages which I am giving you. Without them, you cannot change your life. By living prayer, you will have peace. By living in peace, you will feel the need to witness, because you will discover God whom you now feel to be far away. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray and permit God to enter into your hearts. Return to fasting and confession so as to overcome the evil in you and around you. Thank you for having responded to my call." October 25, 2016

Our Lady comes to us to bring us peace. This is her mission from the Father. In this message she tells us to pray for peace. But she links our prayer for peace with the renunciation of selfishness. Peace cannot exist in a soul that is grasping, vane and selfish. No matter how much we pray for peace, if we are in the state of selfishness we will not find peace.

St. James also taught us about this opposition between peace and selfishness:

"Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good life let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This wisdom is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, devilish. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without uncertainty or insincerity. And the harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." (James 3: 13-18)

"The harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace!" Our Lady is forming us into peacemakers. Our ability to make peace depends on our renunciation of selfishness and our desire for Our Lord, to see Him and follow Him. Our Lady told us about what it is like when we love her Son and seek Him instead of our selves:

"...My children, all those who love my Son can see Him, because His face can be seen through the souls which are filled with love for Him. Therefore, my children, my apostles, listen to me. Leave vanity and selfishness. Do not live only for what is earthly and material. Love my Son and make it so that others may see His face through your love for Him. I will help you to come to know Him all the more. I will speak to you about Him. Thank you. (March 2, 2016)

We may think that giving up our self-concern will leave us vulnerable. But it is really the opposite. The more we leave selfishness and vanity the more secure and safe we will be. We will be seeking Jesus, the One who loves us to the death, who will not leave us alone in trouble but will save us from all our woes. So leaving selfishness is the most secure step we will ever take!!

May we ponder anew this great call from Our Lady to leave selfishness, to let go of what is earthly and material, and turn towards Jesus, who will lead us to the Father and to life!

Our Lady speaks very directly to us in this message. She does not waste any words, but gets right to the point. First, pray for peace. Second, leave selfishness behind. Third, live the messages she is giving us!
It immediately struck me that I have just about given up on praying for peace. We have prayed for so long, Rosary after Rosary, for peace. But things only seem to be getting worse. But the fact remains, we are supposed to pray for peace. Mary calls us to pray for peace. So it must be important and powerful!
And then, with two words she knocked me over. "Leave selfishness..." I needed to hear that too. It is so easy for selfishness to creep in to my heart and slowly take over. It is a slow turning of the eyes inward, looking only at what I need, and then at what I want. Pretty soon I take up most of my thoughts. Where did prayer go? It slowly recedes, and only an inner dialogue with myself remains. "Leave selfishness" shatters this inward descent into hell. We do not live for ourselves.
Finally, "Live the messages which I am giving you." This is Our Lady's antidote to all that ails us. Her messages are a cure for the modern mentality, the godless society, the humanistic wasteland we live in. Her messages speak life into our hearts again!
St. Paul is able to speak in a similar way. In his letter to the Philippians he gives a very moving pep talk, much like Our Lady's message:
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any incentive of love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for God is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (Philippians 1: 1-13)

Wow! "Do nothing from selfishness or conceit..." "Leave selfishness..." Both Mary and Paul caution us to beware of this subtle and dangerous way of being. Instead they call us to pray, to keep Jesus before us, and to long for peace. May it be so!

Mary TV October 24, 2016 Reflection - Live my messages!

    (c)Mateo Ivankovic 2016

October 24, 2016
St. Anthony Mary Claret

Dear Family of Mary!

Tomorrow we will receive a message from Our Lady! We would do well to remember what a great gift these messages are for us. They are lights from heaven, sent by God through Our Lady, so that we will be steady and safe within His love during this most difficult moment in human history. One day we may look back on these days that Our Lady has been with us in Medjugorje and be amazed at the graces and guidance we received. We will be astounded at such a blessed intervention from heaven.

But for now, when all around us seems so dark, we must keep our faith burning brightly by responding to the messages with constant trust and surrender. The Queen of Heaven is with us to lead us forward!

Here are some messages Our Lady has given to us in which she reminds us of the importance of her words to us. Maybe they will be a help in enkindling our determination to live her messages:

October 24, 1985 "Dear children! From day to day I wish to clothe you in holiness, goodness, obedience and God's love, so that from day to day you become more beautiful and more prepared for your Master. Dear children, listen to and live my messages. I wish to guide you. Thank you for having responded to my call."
March 25, 1992 "Dear children! Today as never before I invite you to live my messages and to put them into practice in your life. I have come to you to help you and, therefore, I invite you to change your life because you have taken a path of misery, a path of ruin. When I told you: convert, pray, fast, be reconciled, you took these messages superficially. You started to live them and then you stopped, because it was difficult for you. No, dear children, when something is good, you have to persevere in the good and not think: God does not see me, He is not listening, He is not helping. And so you have gone away from God and from me because of your miserable interest. I wanted to create of you an oasis of peace, love and goodness. God wanted you, with your love and with His help, to do miracles and, thus, give an example. Therefore, here is what I say to you: Satan is playing with you and with your souls and I cannot help you because you are far away from my heart. Therefore, pray, live my messages and then you will see the miracles of God's love in your everyday life. Thank you for having responded to my call."
November 25, 1992 "Dear Children! Today, more than ever, I am calling you to pray. May your life become a continuous prayer. Without love you cannot pray. That is why I am calling you to love God, the Creator of your lives, above everything else. Then you will come to know God and will love Him in everything as He loves you. Dear children, it is a grace that I am with you. That is why you should accept and live my messages for your own good. I love you and that is why I am with you, in order to teach you and to lead you to a new life of conversion and renunciation. Only in this way will you discover God and all that which now seems so far away from you. Therefore, my dear children, pray. Thank you for having responded to my call."
January 25, 1993 "Dear children! Today I call you to accept and live my messages with seriousness. These days are the days when you need to decide for God, for peace and for the good. May every hatred and jealousy disappear from your life and your thoughts, and may there only dwell love for God and for your neighbor. Thus, and only thus shall you be able to discern the signs of the time. I am with you and I guide you into a new time, a time which God gives you as grace so that you may get to know him more. Thank you for having responded to my call."
May 25, 1994 "Dear children! I invite you all to have more trust in me and to live my messages more deeply. I am with you and I intercede before God for you but also I wait for your hearts to open up to my messages. Rejoice because God loves you and gives you the possibility to convert every day and to believe more in God the Creator. Thank you having responded to my call."
February 25, 1996 "Dear children! Today I invite you to conversion. This is the most important message that I have given you here. Little children, I wish that each of you become a carrier of my messages. I invite you, little children, to live the messages that I have given you over these years. This time is a time of grace. Especially now, when the Church also is inviting you to prayer and conversion. I also, little children, invite you to live my messages that I have given you during the time since I appear here. Thank you for having responded to my call."
April 25, 1999 "Dear children! Also today I call you to prayer. Little children, be joyful carriers of peace and love in this peaceless world. By fasting and prayer, witness that you are mine and that you live my messages. Pray and seek! I am praying and interceding for you before God that you convert; that your life and behavior always be Christian. Thank you for having responded to my call."
November 25, 2001 "Dear children! In this time of grace, I call you anew to prayer. Little children, pray and prepare your hearts for the coming of the King of Peace, that with His blessing He may give peace to the whole world. Peacelessness has begun to reign in hearts and hatred reigns in the world. That is why, you who live my messages be the light and extended hands to this faithless world that all may come to know the God of Love. Do not forget, little children, I am with you and bless you all. Thank you for having responded to my call."
December 25, 2002 "Dear children! This is a time of great graces, but also a time of great trials for all those who desire to follow the way of peace. Because of that, little children, again I call you to pray, pray, pray, not with words but with the heart. Live my messages and be converted. Be conscious of this gift that God has permitted me to be with you, especially today when in my arms I have little Jesus - the King of Peace. I desire to give you peace, and that you carry it in your hearts and give it to others until God's peace begins to rule the world. Thank you for having responded to my call."
June 25, 2003 "Dear children! Also today, I call you with great joy to live my messages. I am with you and I thank you for putting into life what I am saying to you. I call you to renew my messages even more, with new enthusiasm and joy. May prayer be your daily practice. Thank you for having responded to my call."
August 25, 2005 "Dear children! Also today I call you to live my messages. God gave you a gift of this time as a time of grace. Therefore, little children, make good use of every moment and pray, pray, pray. I bless you all and intercede before the Most High for each of you. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Our Lady calls us to live her messages! Let us answer her "yes!"

Mary TV October 21, 2016 Reflection - Become my extended hands in the restless world that longs for peace!

Dear Family of Mary!

January 25, 2012 "Dear children! With joy, also today I call you to open your hearts and to listen to my call. Anew, I desire to draw you closer to my Immaculate Heart, where you will find refuge and peace. Open yourselves to prayer, until it becomes a joy for you. Through prayer, the Most High will give you an abundance of grace and you will become my extended hands in this restless world which longs for peace. Little children, with your lives witness faith and pray that faith may grow day by day in your hearts. I am with you. Thank you for having responded to my call."

There are times when we actually see Our Lady reach out to her children through someone, almost as if they are her extended hands. I am so happy to share a true story with you, as relayed by John Harpole, from Colorado, in which Our Lady did just that! Let us rejoice that Our Lady wants us to receive abundant graces and become her extended hands in the restless world which longs for peace. Isn't that the answer to our current woes? To reach out with the love and peace of Mary!!

A 'THIN PLACE' WITH THE BLESSED MOTH ER
By John Harpole

When my Aunt Pat died suddenly in Amarillo, Texas, we were all stunned by what some would refer to as the "end of her story." But her story didn't end there.

It's the story the week after her death that will send a warm feeling up your spine, reinforce your spirituality, or perhaps erode at least some degree of skepticism you might have been embracing.

This story's main elements include our Blessed Mother, a rosary and Aunt Pat.

The day before the funeral, my Amarillo sister-in-law, Eileen, accompanied Aunt Pat's only daughter, Missy, on what otherwise would have been a lonely mission to the mortuary.

Missy was carrying the burden of all things that day, and when the funeral director asked her for Aunt Pat's rosary to be buried with her in her hands, Missy drew a blank She didn't think to add a rosary to the long list of things she was delivering to the funeral home that day.

Eileen came to the rescue, not hesitating to offer up her own rosary. It was a special rosary from Medjugorje, given by a friend who had visited that very holy place. Eileen had carried it with her for 15 years and her constant use of it had actually given the chain between the beads a golden hue.

Later that night, Eileen shared the story of the trip to the funeral home with me. I could tell that she was going to miss that rosary. I even made a mental note to track down another Medjugorje rosary as a replacement for her, even though I clearly sensed that nothing could replace the special significance Eileen attached to that rosary. Hers was a generous gift at the right time and place.

I was reminded of that "mental note" five days later, after 6:30 a.m. Mass. It was the first daily Mass I was able to attend after my Aunt's funeral and it felt good to be home in Denver.

I was standing in the back of church with friends, sharing the sad news of last week, when a woman approached us. I knew that I had met her once before, but couldn't place her name. She always sat about five pews behind me at daily Mass.

She said "Excuse me for interrupting but I was praying last night and the Blessed Mother told me to bring this rosary to mass today and give it to someone. She told me that when I got to church she would tell me who to give it to." She looked directly at me and then said, "She told me during mass to give it to you."

She handed the rosary to me and then said, "It's from Medjugorje ..."

My knees buckled and I began to cry. I did my best to tell her the story of the prior week but I'm afraid that it only came out in incoherent bits and spurts while I wept.

UNBELIEVABLE ... or is it?

Just five days before, at my Aunt Pat's funeral, her Pastor Fr. John, spoke about an ancient Irish tradition dealing with "thin places." He described them as a "place in time where the space between heaven and earth grows thin and the Sacred and the secular seem to meet."

I'm writing this story to thank our Blessed Mother for creating and sharing that unforgettable "thin place" in the back of St. Mary's church this past Tuesday morning.

You can help by sharing this story with others and let them know that our Mother Mary, is always there for us.

By the way, FedEx completed the sacred journey of that rosary as I write this -- back to Eileen in Amarillo.

Thy will be done.

Thank you, John, for sharing this beautiful story with us. We rejoice that you were touched by Our Lady in such a direct way, through this wonderful woman, a true daughter of Mary, who became her extended hands. Praise Jesus and Mary!!

Oh, and I believe that Medjugorje is one of those "Thin Places!!"

Mary TV: October 20, 2016 Reflection - My Children, do not be afraid of injustices. They have always existed

    (c)Mateo Ivankovic 2016

J.M.J.

St. Paul of the Cross

Dear Family of Mary!

Today I want to quote from a very special book. It is "Medjugorje Day by Day" written by Fr. Richard Beyer. This book was published in 1993, only 12 years after the apparitions in Medjugorje began. It contains 365 meditations, one for each day of the year, based on a message of Our Lady and Scripture, along with stories of Medjugorje. It is as meaningful today as it was when it was published, because Our Lady's words are timeless, as are the words of Scripture. (Available at https://www.avemariapress.com/product/0-87793-494-0/Medjugorje-Day-by-Day/ )

Here is Fr. Beyer's entry for October 20!

Do not fear injustice

During the first week of the apparitions, Mirjana and Jakov were upset because people were treating them like liars. The Blessed Mother told them:

"My angels, do not be afraid of injustices. They have always existed"
(June 27, 1981)

And from 1 Corinthians:

Therefore, do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness, and will disclose the purposes of the heart (1 Cor 4:5)

Reflections: Our Lady has discouraged the visionaries from seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. Rather, she has helped them to recognize both the beautiful and the ugly, the moral and the immoral, the just and the unjust. But she has also taught them that love is stronger than hate and that the ultimate victory is Christ's. Their task is to help bring about this victory through living and spreading the Medjugorje messages.

Nonetheless it is painful for us, as it was for Jesus, to witness injustice. But it is a blessing just to recognize it and thus help remedy the situation, for many are morally blind.

Application: Today, begin to look about your own community with the eyes of Christ, to see those unjust situations that need your help, prayers and support.

I found this entry to be very meaningful today, as we see injustice raging in our world, in every country. It is as if the world has gone mad. But our approach must be the same as Our Lady's approach in 1981. We are to love with a love stronger than hate, and to help the victory of love by spreading Our Lady's messages from Medjugorje.

It is hard to see evil, to see injustice, to see people choosing to harm themselves and others. We may not be able to stop them, but we can pray for them, do penance, and cry from our hearts for an end to evil. We can pray the Rosary for Our Lady's intentions. We can do good, as much good as is within our grasp. And we can hope in God, who has not left us and will never leave us.

We must not be afraid, as Our Lady counseled the young visionaries. Hope in God, for He is our God and we belong to Him.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: Update from Denis

October 19, 2016
Dear Apostles of the Gospa,

Scripture tells us to "stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness." (Eph. 6:12)

Witches, pagans and Satanists have made public they will be "praying" tonight during the last American presidential debate to protect their sacrament, Satan's sacrament in America:  abortion.   Apostles of the Gospa of Medjugorje, pray your rosary tonight while the debate is taking place (October 19, 8:30pm EDT).

Our Lady has told us: "... I want you to obey me and not permit Satan to seduce you. Dear children, Satan is very strong and, therefore, I ask you to dedicate your prayers to me so that those who are under his influence can be saved. Give witness by your life. Sacrifice your lives for the salvation of the world. I am with you, and I am grateful to you, but in heaven you shall receive the Father's reward which He has promised to you. Therefore, dear children, do not be afraid. If you pray, Satan cannot injure you even a little bit because you are God's children and He is watching over you. Pray and let the rosary always be in your hand as a sign to Satan that you belong to me!" (February 25, 1988)

God bless you
Denis

PS. I remember in the latter 80's when I was on a Medjugorje speaking tour on the West Coast.... a story Mary Lyle told me as she was driving me through Oregon up to Seattle.   Her friend Linda had children in the first grade.   New Age books promoting witchcraft were being introduced into the curriculum at their school.  Mary and Linda decided to sit in the front row at the PTA meeting, and just quietly pray their rosary.  And the speakers promoting the witchcraft books would, one by one, start to babble at the microphone and have to sit down....  The children were protected!

MISSION STATEMENT: MARY TV is a lay apostolate founded to put at the Gospa's service (Our Lady's service) modern communication technologies to bring her presence in Medjugorje - and her school in Medjugorje - to the world.

Mary TV: October 19, 2016 Reflection - The Risen Christ Statue and Divine Mercy

Sts. John De Brebeuf and Isaac Jogues and Companions

Dear Family of Mary!

March 25, 2004 "Dear children! Also today, I call you to open yourselves to prayer. Especially now, in this time of grace, open your hearts, little children, and express your love to the Crucified. Only in this way, will you discover peace, and prayer will begin to flow from your heart into the world. Be an example, little children, and an incentive for the good. I am close to you and I love you all. Thank you for having responded to my call."

During the Rosary recently we had a discussion about the "Risen Christ" Statue behind St. James Church. Denis and I were both amazed at the way pilgrims in Medjugorje are drawn to that statue. At first I think they are curious about the mysterious fluid that exudes from it. But when they find themselves close to it, they are enraptured. They hug the legs of Jesus, kiss Him over and over again, and remain in a restful embrace, hugging His legs like a child would hug an adult.

Both Denis and I were touched by this show of affection for a cold, bronze figure of the Crucified. But I must admit that I feel the same attraction to just hug Jesus and hold on to His leg with childlike abandon.

Here are some facts about this statue:
The statue is a replica of a 277 cm. silver image of "The Resurrection", sculpted by Andrej Ajdic and presented to Pope John Paul II on the occasion of his Papal Visit to Slovenia in 1996. The mystery of Christ's resurrection is expressed by the image of an elongated, slender Christ, arms outstretched as if still nailed to the cross but at the same time globally embracing redeemed mankind, while triumphantly rising from a cross which is laid flat on the ground, overcast by the silhouette of Christ or God's presence on earth. Another unique feature of the sculpture is that Christ is not wrapped by a loincloth but by a newspaper, signifying the ephemeral event of the crucifixion, in contrast to Christ's everlasting and infinite nature.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the apparition of "Gospa, Kraljice Mira" ("Blessed Mother, Queen of Peace" in the native Croatian language), a 30-foot bronze replica of Ajdic's "The Resurrection" was erected behind St. James Church. A day or two after the anniversary, around June 25-26, 2001, pilgrims started noticing that the statue was visibly oozing clear fluid. (http://asianjournalusa.com/the-weeping-christ-at-medjugorje-p3548-144.htm   )

This statue is now visited by pilgrims every day. They line up to approach the legs of Jesus, where many find a "mysterious" fluid exuding from the statue. I haven't seen any scientific analysis of the fluid but some say that it is the tears of Mary. Our Lady may have been able to reach Jesus' knees while He hung on the Cross, and so anointed them with her tears as He died for our sins. Those precious tears may be flowing still, for us.

It is a sign of the Great Mercy of Jesus, that we are drawn to hug the very knees and legs that were so tortured for our sins. For it seems that the people who approach the statue are overwhelmed with a sense of being loved, of being wrapped in peace, of being blessed by Jesus. This is the best explanation for their behavior I can come up with. Very often, for our Hour of Mercy prayer time which is live in Medjugore, we are present at the Risen Christ Statue for that prayer time. And we watch pilgrim after pilgrim venerating Christ, kissing Him, hugging Him, and just leaning on Him in quiet prayer. It is healing just to watch them. Our Lady calls us: "Especially now, in this time of grace, open your hearts, little children, and express your love to the Crucified."
I believe that is exactly what is going on at the Risen Christ Statue.

In the Year of Mercy, I believe the Risen Christ Statue is a sign of Mercy for the world.

Mary TV October 18, 2016 Reflection - Thank you, St. Luke!

St. Luke, Evangelist

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Today again I call you to become carriers of my peace. In a special way, now when it is being said that God is far away, He has truly never been nearer to you. I call you to renew prayer in your families by reading the Sacred Scripture and to experience joy in meeting with God who infinitely loves His creatures. Thank you for having responded to my call." September 25, 1999

On this special feast day, let's listen to the words of St. Luke, words inspired by the Holy Spirit, and most assuredly from the Heart of Mary:

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Hail, O favored one, the Lord is with you!" But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.  And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end." And Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I have no husband?" And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible." And Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.

In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and she entered the house of Zechari'ah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord."

And Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
And his mercy is on those who fear him
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm,
he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts,
he has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent empty away.
He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
as he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his posterity for ever."
And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her home.
(Luke 1: 26-56 RSV)

Thank you, St. Luke.

Mary TV: October 17, 2016 Reflection - Yearn for Heaven!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2016
JMJ
October 17, 2016
Saint Ignatius of Antioch

Dear Family of Mary!

The Gospel for today (Luke 12:13-21) tells the familiar parable of the rich man whose harvest was so big that he decided to tear down his barns and build bigger ones so he could keep all his produce and live a care-free life. But God says to him, "You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?" The message is clear. We are only passing through this life. It is not our end point. Those of us who try to hide from that reality are fools. We are meant for eternity. Our home is with God.

Our Lady once told us:

September 25, 2012 "Dear children! When in nature you look at the richness of the colors which the Most High gives to you, open your heart and pray with gratitude for all the good that you have and say: 'I am here created for eternity' - and yearn for heavenly things because God loves you with immeasurable love. This is why He also gave me to you to tell you: 'Only in God is your peace and hope, dear children'. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Her message is the antidote to the attitude of the rich man in the parable. Yes, we must rejoice at the bounty of our world. Especially now at harvest time, we can only marvel at the provision of God for us. But Our Lady tells us that all we see in nature is from the Most High!! He is the giver of all good things.

She calls us to respond to this bounty with gratitude. And in that gratitude let go of it all. We are not created just to consume the earth's goods. She tells us to say, "I am here created for eternity!" The riches of the earth are only meaningful as a help in reaching eternity with God.

"Yearn for heavenly things because God loves you with immeasurable love." There is great healing for our souls if we begin to yearn for heaven and God. When we live only for this world, we silence our souls. We deny the true desire of our souls, and try to silence the yearning for God that is built into us. We distract ourselves with all kinds of things, to run from that inner voice that says, "I need God". But we can release that truth in ourselves by choosing the truth. We need God.

The Lord has sent Our Lady to help us to do just that. "This is why He also gave me to you to tell you: 'Only in God is your peace and hope, dear children.'" Jesus wants us to recognize our deep need for God. There is so much hope in owning it. We need God. We want God. We are made for God. God is our only hope and future. He is our peace and hope.

May we break free from the delusion of the rich man, and find our true hope and joy in God!

Mary TV October 14, 2016 Reflection - The Rosary is a prayer of supplication!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2016
JMJ
October 14, 2016
St. Callistus I
Dear Family of Mary!
Finally, St. John Paul II reminds us that Our Lady is the most powerful of intercessors, and the Rosary is a good way to receive her intercession!
March 18, 2012
"Dear children! I am coming among you because I desire to be your mother - your intercessor. I desire to be the bond between you and the Heavenly Father - your mediatrix. I desire to take you by the hand and to walk with you in the battle against the impure spirit. My children, consecrate yourselves to me completely. I will take your lives into my motherly hands and I will teach them peace and love, and then I will give them over to my Son. I am asking of you to pray and fast because only in this way will you know how to witness my Son in the right way through my motherly heart. Pray for your shepherds that, united in my Son, they can always joyfully proclaim the Word of God. Thank you."

St. John Paul II wrote:
Praying to Christ with Mary
16. Jesus invited us to turn to God with insistence and the confidence that we will be heard: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you" (Mt 7:7). The basis for this power of prayer is the goodness of the Father, but also the mediation of Christ himself (cf. 1Jn 2:1) and the working of the Holy Spirit who "intercedes for us" according to the will of God (cf. Rom 8:26-27). For "we do not know how to pray as we ought" (Rom 8:26), and at times we are not heard "because we ask wrongly" (cf. Jas 4:2-3).
In support of the prayer which Christ and the Spirit cause to rise in our hearts, Mary intervenes with her maternal intercession. "The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary". If Jesus, the one Mediator, is the Way of our prayer, then Mary, his purest and most transparent reflection, shows us the Way. "Beginning with Mary's unique cooperation with the working of the Holy Spirit, the Churches developed their prayer to the Holy Mother of God, centering it on the person of Christ manifested in his mysteries". At the wedding of Cana, the Gospel clearly shows the power of Mary's intercession as she makes known to Jesus the needs of others: "They have no wine" (Jn 2:3).
The Rosary is both meditation and supplication. Insistent prayer to the Mother of God is based on confidence that her maternal intercession can obtain all things from the heart of her Son. She is "all-powerful by grace", to use the bold expression, which needs to be properly understood, of Blessed Bartolo Longo in his Supplication to Our Lady. This is a conviction which, beginning with the Gospel, has grown ever more firm in the experience of the Christian people. The supreme poet Dante expresses it marvelously in the lines sung by Saint Bernard: "Lady, thou art so great and so powerful, that whoever desires grace yet does not turn to thee, would have his desire fly without wings". When in the Rosary we plead with Mary, the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit (cf. Lk 1:35), she intercedes for us before the Father who filled her with grace and before the Son born of her womb, praying with us and for us.
Mary's intercession is like the wings that give flight to our prayer. How many times have we each had miracles happen when we turn our needs over to Our Lady!! The Rosary is the perfect prayer of petition and supplication to the Lord!! May we pray the Rosary now with much more conviction, faith, hope and love! God is waiting to hear from us! He is waiting to bless us. And He is waiting to embrace us as we pray the Rosary with Mary!!

Thank you, oh Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, for praying for us and with us to the Lord, our God!

Mary TV October 13, 2016 Reflection - Our Heavenly Teacher

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2016

The Miracle of the Sun at Fatima (99 years ago)
Dear Family of Mary!
May 2, 2008
"Dear children, By God's will I am here with you in this place. I desire that you open your hearts to me and to accept me as a mother. With my love I will teach you simplicity of life and richness of mercy and I will lead you to my Son. The way to Him can be difficult and painful but do not be afraid, I will be with you. My hands will hold you to the very end, to eternal happiness; therefore, do not be afraid to open yourselves to me. Thank you. Pray for priests. My Son gave them to you as a gift."
Our Lady's messages have been called her school. She is with us to teach us the way to God. And we are so blessed to be taught by such a teacher! St. John Paul II recognized the wonder of her instruction, especially through the Rosary:

Learning Christ from Mary
14. Christ is the supreme Teacher, the revealer and the one revealed. It is not just a question of learning what he taught but of "learning him". In this regard could we have any better teacher than Mary? From the divine standpoint, the Spirit is the interior teacher who leads us to the full truth of Christ (cf. Jn 14:26; 15:26; 16:13). But among creatures no one knows Christ better than Mary; no one can introduce us to a profound knowledge of his mystery better than his Mother.
The first of the "signs" worked by Jesus - the changing of water into wine at the marriage in Cana - clearly presents Mary in the guise of a teacher, as she urges the servants to do what Jesus commands (cf. Jn 2:5). We can imagine that she would have done likewise for the disciples after Jesus' Ascension, when she joined them in awaiting the Holy Spirit and supported them in their first mission. Contemplating the scenes of the Rosary in union with Mary is a means of learning from her to "read" Christ, to discover his secrets and to understand his message.
This school of Mary is all the more effective if we consider that she teaches by obtaining for us in abundance the gifts of the Holy Spirit, even as she offers us the incomparable example of her own "pilgrimage of faith".(17) As we contemplate each mystery of her Son's life, she invites us to do as she did at the Annunciation: to ask humbly the questions which open us to the light, in order to end with the obedience of faith: "Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to your word" (Lk 1:38).
Being conformed to Christ with Mary
15. Christian spirituality is distinguished by the disciple's commitment to become conformed ever more fully to his Master (cf. Rom 8:29; Phil 3:10,12). The outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Baptism grafts the believer like a branch onto the vine which is Christ (cf. Jn 15:5) and makes him a member of Christ's mystical Body (cf.1Cor 12:12; Rom 12:5). This initial unity, however, calls for a growing assimilation which will increasingly shape the conduct of the disciple in accordance with the "mind" of Christ: "Have this mind among yourselves, which was in Christ Jesus" (Phil 2:5). In the words of the Apostle, we are called "to put on the Lord Jesus Christ" (cf. Rom 13:14; Gal 3:27).
In the spiritual journey of the Rosary, based on the constant contemplation - in Mary's company - of the face of Christ, this demanding ideal of being conformed to him is pursued through an association which could be described in terms of friendship. We are thereby enabled to enter naturally into Christ's life and as it were to share his deepest feelings. In this regard Blessed Bartolo Longo has written: "Just as two friends, frequently in each other's company, tend to develop similar habits, so too, by holding familiar converse with Jesus and the Blessed Virgin, by meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary and by living the same life in Holy Communion, we can become, to the extent of our lowliness, similar to them and can learn from these supreme models a life of humility, poverty, hiddenness, patience and perfection".(18)
In this process of being conformed to Christ in the Rosary, we entrust ourselves in a special way to the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin. She who is both the Mother of Christ and a member of the Church, indeed her "pre-eminent and altogether singular member", (19) is at the same time the "Mother of the Church". As such, she continually brings to birth children for the mystical Body of her Son. She does so through her intercession, imploring upon them the inexhaustible outpouring of the Spirit. Mary is the perfect icon of the motherhood of the Church.
The Rosary mystically transports us to Mary's side as she is busy watching over the human growth of Christ in the home of Nazareth. This enables her to train us and to mold us with the same care, until Christ is "fully formed" in us (cf. Gal 4:19). This role of Mary, totally grounded in that of Christ and radically subordinated to it, "in no way obscures or diminishes the unique mediation of Christ, but rather shows its power".(20) This is the luminous principle expressed by the Second Vatican Council which I have so powerfully experienced in my own life and have made the basis of my episcopal motto: Totus Tuus.(21) The motto is of course inspired by the teaching of Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, who explained in the following words Mary's role in the process of our configuration to Christ: "Our entire perfection consists in being conformed, united and consecrated to Jesus Christ. Hence the most perfect of all devotions is undoubtedly that which conforms, unites and consecrates us most perfectly to Jesus Christ. Now, since Mary is of all creatures the one most conformed to Jesus Christ, it follows that among all devotions that which most consecrates and conforms a soul to our Lord is devotion to Mary, his Holy Mother, and that the more a soul is consecrated to her the more will it be consecrated to Jesus Christ".(22) Never as in the Rosary do the life of Jesus and that of Mary appear so deeply joined. Mary lives only in Christ and for Christ!
