Day 24
Dear Family of Mary!
We continue to get to know Mary through Scripture. This day Mary doesn't speak, but she is spoken to!
And when the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord") and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons." Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
And inspired by the Spirit he came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, "Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word; for mine eyes have seen thy salvation which thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to thy people Israel."
And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, "Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is spoken against (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that thoughts out of many hearts may be revealed." (Luke 2: 22-34)
Elizabeth had prophesied to Mary at the Visitation. This time it is Simeon who prophesies. He recognizes Jesus as the Savior sent by God to redeem the world. He rejoices that the time has come. And He tells Mary that not only will Jesus suffer as a sign of contradiction, but that her own heart will be pierced so that the thoughts of many hearts would be revealed.
Simeon could see that no other mother on earth would suffer as much as Mary would suffer during Jesus' public life and especially during the Passion. Her Son would go the way of the Passion, and she would be a witness to it. In her witness, her terrible suffering, those who saw her would understand the truth about Jesus. In that moment their own thoughts (the truth about themselves) would be revealed to them and they would have a chance to repent.
Our Lady has come to us in Medjugorje to draw us back to the truth about Jesus. She has come to turn our hearts back to God. She stands before us with her suffering heart, to reveal our own thoughts to us. Now is the time of conversion.
December 25, 2005
The apparition began at 2:45pm and lasted seven minutes. Our Lady gave the following message:

"Dear children! Today, with Jesus in my arms, in a special way I call you to conversion. Children, through all this time which God permitted me to be with you, I continuously called you to conversion. Many of your hearts remained closed. Little children, Jesus is peace, love and joy; therefore, now decide for Jesus. Start to pray. Pray to Him for the gift of conversion. Little children, only with Jesus can you have peace, joy and a heart filled with love. Little children, I love you. I am your mother and give you my motherly blessing."

Let us pray:
