Dear Family of Mary!

"...I know that it is difficult for you because you see more and more darkness around you. My children, it is necessary to break it by prayer and love. The one who prays and loves is not afraid, he has hope and a merciful love, he sees the light and sees my Son. As my apostles, I call you to keep trying to be an example of merciful love and hope. Always pray anew for all the more love because merciful love brings light which breaks every darkness - it brings my Son. Do not be afraid, you are not alone, I am with you..." (April 2, 2016)

These words of Our Lady speak directly to the heart of our difficult times. She speaks into that darkness, into our hearts, bringing light. Her words are from heaven. They are prophetic words that speak truth into our weary souls. The darkness around us can be broken. It can be defeated. We have been given the tools to defeat it.

Prayer and love. These are our tools, our weapons to defeat the darkness.

"The one who prays and loves is not afraid, he has hope and a merciful love..." How is it that in a disaster there are some who can act, can even save others in the midst of the chaos? These are the "helpers", those who stay calm and move forward, doing what they can for others. The helpers have hope and merciful love. They are guided by an inner light that keeps them calm and focused. They make a difference because they can almost see with different eyes. I believe this is what Our Lady is asking of us. She wants us to be the "helpers", those who "see the light" and move in it.

"As my apostles, I call you to keep trying to be an example of merciful love and hope. Always pray anew for all the more love because merciful love brings light which breaks every darkness - it brings my Son." Keep trying. We must keep trying through prayer to become merciful love and hope for others. Through our love and hope we will help break the darkness. Jesus will come. He will come into the darkness of souls who have no hope, and He will work miracles of love in them, through our hope and love. We can break the darkness. We must be agents of light.

"Do not be afraid, you are not alone, I am with you..." Fear will stop us from growing in prayer and love. Fear will stop God's plan through us to break the darkness. Fear is not from God. Our Lady is with us, and she will stay with us. In her presence, we will not be afraid.

So, our call is to break the darkness through our prayer and our love, our hope and the light of Christ shining in us. Our call is to be the helpers in this disastrous time. We are the "helpers" sent by God to those lost in the darkness.

We have been given examples of what it means to be "helpers". St. John Paul II was such a "helper". His motto was "Be not afraid." His gift to the Church was Divine Mercy. His fatherly presence was like living "light" and hope for millions. His weapons were prayer and love. We can look to him for help in becoming prayer and love in this world.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta was a "helper". She moved through the darkest of places, bringing help, giving merciful love to the poorest of the poor. She broke the darkness with her presence, her care, her love. She taught us real love.

There are many more examples. And now we are called to be examples too. Our Lady is with us to help us. She will not leave us alone. May the Light that is Jesus shine in us and through us, breaking every darkness.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
