Dear Family of Mary!
August 25, 1991 "Dear Children! Today also I invite you to prayer, now as never before when my plan has begun to be realized. Satan is strong and wants to sweep away my plans of peace and joy and make you think that my Son is not strong in His decisions. Therefore, I call all of you, dear children, to pray and fast still more firmly. I invite you to self-renunciation for nine days so that, with your help, everything that I desire to realize through the secrets I began in Fatima, may be fulfilled. I call you, dear children, to now grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Therefore, let us pray that everything I have begun be fully realized. Thank you for having responded to my call."

In the Gospel for January 7 (Luke 4:14-22) Jesus reads a prophecy in the Book of Isaiah which talks about the Messiah, the anointed one who was to come. He then announces that the prophecy has been fulfilled: "Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."
Actually, as I pondered that Scripture, I realized that Jesus is the fulfillment of every promise that the Father has made to us over thousands of years. Jesus is the answer to every need, the solution to every problem! He brings glad tidings to the poor, proclaims liberty to captives, recovery of sight to the blind, and freedom for the oppressed. He is the Power for those who are powerless, the Light for those in darkness, the Hope for those in despair, the Truth for those who have been misled by lies, and the Love for all who have been despised. Jesus is the Way to the Father and the Source of Life. Jesus is the fulfillment of all the good that God has planned for us, all that the Father has promised to us. It is all there, in Jesus.
Knowing this makes a big difference. When a father makes a promise to his child it has a powerful effect. Imagine that a father promises his child a trip to the zoo on the weekend, but tells the child he will have to wait and be good. That promise will be something the child will take as real. The child will trust his father and wait with trust, trying to be good. The child will have great hope and anticipation for the weekend, because his father is to be trusted.
Now imagine our Heavenly Father. He has made us some amazing promises in Scripture. They describe our future life in heaven, with Him. But we have to wait for these promises, and be good in the meantime. But because Our Father is trustworthy, the wait is not too hard. Now add to this that the Father sent His Son to be the guarantee of His promises, and the answer and fulfillment of them all. So we don't even have to wait, because we have Jesus! He is the fulfillment of all God has promised, and He is with us now!
So when Our Lady says: "Satan is strong and wants to sweep away my plans of peace and joy and make you think that my Son is not strong in His decisions," she is reinforcing the fact that Jesus is the fulfillment of all God has promised and that Jesus will not renege. Jesus will deliver what He promises because He is the promise, He is the answer, the power, the love. The enemy tries to depress us, and convince us that God is not to be trusted. But it is not so! As the children of a good Father, we know better. Jesus is the only one to be trusted. He will deliver. We have only to trust and wait, and be good in the meantime!
"Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing." Jesus has come. He is the promised One. And He will deliver!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
