Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Also today, my prayer is for all of you, especially for all those who have become hard of heart to my call. You are living in the days of grace and are not conscious of the gifts which God is giving to you through my presence. Little children, decide also today for holiness and take the example of the saints of this time and you will see that holiness is a reality for all of you. Rejoice in the love, little children, that in the eyes of God you are unrepeatable and irreplaceable, because you are God´s joy in this world. Witness peace, prayer and love. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 2015)

"Little children, decide also today for holiness and take the example of the saints of this time and you will see that holiness is a reality for all of you."

We are drawing near to the Solemnity of All Saints! Our Lady tells us to take the example of the saints of this time. I am not sure to which saints she is referring. But I found it very interesting to look at the list of recently canonized saints. I don't know most of them, but those I do know are amazing people.

Here is a sampling of the recently canonized saints of the Catholic Church:

Under St. John Paul:

Maximillian Kolbe (10/10/82)
Leopold Mandic (10/16/83)
103 Korean Martyrs (05/06/84)
Andrew Dung-Lac (06/19/88)
Rose Philippine Duchesne (07/03/88)
Claude de la Colombiere ( 05/31/92)
Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein) (10/11/98)
Maria Faustina Kowalska (04/30/2000)
Josephine Bakhita (10/01/2000)
Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio) ((06/16/02)
Josemaria Escriva ((10/06/02)
Gianna Berretta Molla ((05/16/04)

(St. John Paul II canonized 110 saints during his pontificate!)

Under Pope Benedict XVI:

Fr. Damien (10/11/09)
Andre Bessette (10/17/10)
Mary MacKillop (10/17/10)
Stanislaw Kzimierczyk (10/17/10)
Hildegard of Bingen (05/10/12)
Kateri Tekakwitha (10/21/12)

(Pope Benedict canonized 45 saints during his pontificate!)

Under Pope Francis:
Angela of Foligno (10/09/13)
Peter Faber (12/17/13)
Pope John XXIII (04/27/14)
Pope John Paul II (04/27/14)
Junipero Serra (09/23/15)
Louis and Zellie Martin (10/18/15)

Pope Francis has canonized 26 saints so far!

Just this small sampling of the saints of this time is enough to give us great hope, and a great example for holiness. We have been gifted with powerful saints for our day. They are our intercessors in heaven, cheering us on from above. They want us all to succeed and join them in heaven for eternity. Let's stay close to them and imitate them, with the joy of knowing that if we do, we will one day meet them in heaven!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

On Tea with Rosie, episode 143, Rosie joins a pilgrimage group led by Michael Nolan, as they share about the gifts they have received from God through Our Lady's presence in Medjugorje.  You can watch it here: http://marytv.tv/featured-programing/tea-with-rosie

One of the pilgrims is a very special person, Olga from Moscow.  Olga has been sailing with us on the digital sea for quite some time now, but it was only this year that she was able to travel to Medjugorje!  Olga shares the gifts she has received from Our Lady in Medjugorje on that episode.  I have transcribed her sharing for all of you!  She says some very beautiful things:
Rosie: Everybody in the Mary TV prayer group has heard about Olga, but now we can see her! (Laughter!) Do you have anything to say about your pilgrimage here:

Olga: Well I am very grateful to Our Lady for inviting me this time because this has been a real gift to me. I think I will be unwrapping the presents for a long, long time yet. I would really like to say that anyone who might be watching this and thinking, "Oh I wish I could have gone to Medjugorje...." - You don't need money to go to Medjugorje. You need Our Lady's invitation. But most of all you need to go to Mass. Anytime you go to Mass with the desire to meet Jesus you go to Medjugorje.

This is just the parish that lives the Eucharist. If we live the Eucharist enough in our parishes it would be Medjugorje in our parishes. I believe this is the message that Our Lady puts in my heart.

And another thing, I feel a very strong connection with Fatima. You know that in Fatima Our Lady asked the world to pray for Russia. But one of the biggest revelations of Fatima is her heart. She showed to Sister Lucia her heart and she said, "My heart will be your safe refuge. And I will lead you to God. And what I get here is that Medjugorje is like an icon, an image of Mary's heart. And you need to enter Mary's heart like the Ark that will protect you from the flood.

You don't need to go to Medjugorje to enter Mary's heart. You need to pray. But it is easier here somehow. And also Mary helps souls to get into her heart through our prayers here, and also in other places of the world. But this is the big revelation that we need for our times. Mary's heart, Mary's heart.

And whatever is happening here in Medjugorje, of course the friendships that we receive here, this is what will be happening. And I believe that in Mary's heart we can always meet, no matter where we are. This is what she says in her last message, right? "Unite in prayer, regardless of how far apart you are from each other." This means that in Mary's heart we are all together. And the distance between each other is the distance between you and the tabernacle, the nearest tabernacle, you know! When we gather around one and the same altar, we are all together.

And another word that I received for Mary TV is that whatever Mary TV can do has to be united to the Mass. It is not just the technology, but technology offered on the altar. Our prayers together offered on the altar. And then if we are living the Mass as the Mary TV Family, then Our Lady will do something good through this. Without the Mass, without the prayer, this will be good information institution center but it will not be Mary's work. So this is what I can share.

Olga has discovered the very same thing that Father Bill Zimmer discovered in Medjugorje! (Fr. Bill is the priest whose homily I transcribed for Wednesday, October 28, 2015 reflection.  He gave that homily on October 26.  And he has just filmed his testimony for Fruit of Medjugorje!)  They both have discovered that Medjugorje is a a parish that lives the Eucharist!!!  And it is the Eucharist that ties us all together.  We are one family in the Eucharist, in our love for the Eucharistic Jesus!

Thank you Jesus, for your Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, given to us in the Eucharist, as our daily food.  May we grow in love with you every day, until we are with you in Eternity.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

In the homily for English Mass on Monday, October 26, 2015, the celebrant shared about his experience of the love of Our Lady in Medjugorje on his first pilgrimage, four years ago.  The love of Our Lady opened his eyes to something wonderful in Medjugorje.  He shared about that wonderful sight in this homily.  It is a beautiful witness to the gifts which God is giving to us through Our Lady's presence.

Homily from English Mass on October 26, 2015:
Yesterday, Fr. Leon in his homily posed a question: If we experience a miracle in Medjugorje, when we go home are we different? Or do we live the same? Well that spoke to me because on my first pilgrimage in November of 2011 I had an experience of the love of the Mother of God that changed my life and my priestly ministry forever. In fact, I had that same experience two other times in that pilgrimage. And upon reflecting on those experiences when I returned to Chicago, it occurred to me that the love of God that comes to us through Mary is real. And I was prompted, I was driven, to share that with all the people I celebrate the Mass with in the Chicago area. So since then in the four years since that experience, I have shared it about 150 times, in over 50 parishes in the Chicago area, a conference, many groups and individuals, it was on the radio last June, and it is going to be on Mary TV, it is being recorded this Wednesday.

As part of that experience, I recount what happened after the first experience of the love of Mary that morning. When we walked through the vineyards of Medjugorje, the majestic mountain range in the distance...mountains are a privileged place of encounter with God...and we came to St. James Church in Medjugorje, I was amazed at what I saw. This was a Wednesday morning, a weekday. And the whole church was full of people - all the pews were filled, with people sitting in front of the front pew, on the sides, in the back, and everyone was participating in the Mass with all of their heart! We sang four stanzas of Amazing Grace as the entrance hymn. That was the first time in my life I had ever done that!! All the people were participating in the prayers and the songs, listening attentively to the Word of God in the Scripture readings and the homily, and going to Communion reverently. I said to myself, "That is the vision of Liturgical renewal from the Second Vatican Council as expressed in the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy. Full, conscious and active participation in the Liturgy. I say to them in Chicago, "Friends that is not only possible it is happening, every day in Medjugorje at 10 o'clock in the morning!"

And it's for good reason. Because in the Mass, the celebration of the Eucharist, the most important thing in human history occurs. That is the Paschal Mystery. The very purpose of human history, its culmination and fulfillment, when God suffered the most horrible death imaginable. It is the most definitive expression of the love that God has for all of us. When God's mercy was spilled over the world like an immense ocean. And a short time later, He passed over from death to life, conquering sin and death.

That Paschal mystery will be present throughout all the ages of human history until the second coming of Christ. It will be made present through the Catholic Mass, because the Mass is the perpetual memorial of the Paschal Mystery. But it is not just an historic memory like when you go to an historic place like the 15th century castle outside of town, and you say, "Oh, how interesting it is to see how people lived in the 15th Century." That is not what the Mass is. The Mass is a memory that makes that reality present again. When we celebrate the Mass, it doesn't matter if it is in a humble church with 14 people present or a Papal Eucharist with over a million people present. The Paschal Mystery, the death and resurrection of Jesus, becomes present again, it becomes a living reality in human history at that Mass.

When that happens, the graces of the Paschal Mystery are flooded into the whole world. Not just the church where it is being celebrated, because the Mass is offered for the salvation of the whole world. And not just for the Universal Church, but for all humanity. We join in Christ's work in saving all of humanity. And so in the words of St. Maria Faustina, in her inspiring Diary, "Divine Mercy in my Soul", she says, "I feel like a drop in the ocean of God's mercy. The same outpouring of graces that happens in the Mass, the Paschal Mystery of Christ floods the world with God's love and mercy.

And it gives us the grace to do something of utmost importance. As Paul says in the first reading from Romans today: We are heirs with Christ, of only we suffer with Him, so we may also be glorified with Him. Here we see the Paschal Mystery as present in the Word of God. The Scriptures in many ways make the Paschal Mystery present, just like the Sacrament of the Eucharist does. And it gives us the grace to respond to this exhortation by St. Paul to the Romans, which is an exhortation to Christians down through the ages to follow Christ's example, to share his Paschal Mystery, to willingly suffer so that we may be glorified with him. And it is certainly worth it. As St. Maria Faustina reveals in her diary. The most compelling spiritual literature I have ever read, for many reasons. One reason being, that she tells of many personal experiences of heaven. She tells what it is like to be in heaven.

Here is one stunning statement in that regard. It is a prayer. I think her whole diary is just a prayer. She says, "Lord, I would gladly toil laboriously for my whole life, and bear all the sufferings of the world, for just one moment in eternity with you." Just think of that. She is willing to bear all the labor and suffering of the whole world, for just one moment with the Lord in heaven. What a stunning revelation of the eternal glory in heaven that awaits us. That inspires us to share in the Paschal Mystery of Christ. It inspires us to come to Mass as often as we can. And to bring the children. Even if they can't understand it, which of course they don't. There is such an outpouring of graces from the Paschal Mystery of Christ, that those children are blessed lovingly, and they are given the grace to become great Catholics. That is what we are all called to be.

We turn now to celebrate the Eucharist where the bread and wine are transformed by the grace of Christ, through the Holy Spirit into His Body and Blood, which gives us the grace to imitate Him, responding to the words of St. Paul, "If only we suffer with Him, so that we may be glorified with Him."

What a powerful explosion of faith came to this priest, and comes to all of us through Our Lady.  Medjugorje really is a Eucharistic Village, as Olga told us on Tea with Rosie.  This is the great work God is doing in Medjugorje!!

Mary TV Daily Reflection 10/27/2015

Our Lady tells us that she is praying for all of us.  As the mother of all God's children, she loves us each with a mother's love.  This means that she follows our every step, and with great concern and care, prays for us with mercy and love.  She prays for those who have not come to know her Son.  She prays for those who are walking the way of holiness.  And she prays for those who have grown cold.

She tells us the she especially is praying for those who have become hard of heart to her call.  This must be very difficult.  She is praying for those who may have once had open hearts to her presence in Medjugorje but have since lost interest.  Those who have wandered away from her messages and her presence are for her a great concern.

Why?  "You are living the days of grace and are not conscious of the gifts which God is giving to you through my presence."  If our hearts are hard and closed to Our Lady's presence, then they are also hardened to all the gifts that are pouring out of her heart, the gifts from the heavenly Father for this time of grace.

The gifts are as varied and amazing as are the people who receive them.  If you want to get a glimpse at the gifts being given through Our Lady, just view some of the episodes of "Fruit of Medjugorje" on the Mary TV website.  These testimonies make tangible the gifts and graces Our Lady is talking about: conversions, healings, reconciliations, amazing confessions, joy, peace, love, and many, many vocations!  Watching these testimonies awakens again in us hope for the future and a sense of what God is doing in our day.

It may be that those who have hardened their hearts to Our Lady's presence and messages will not read this message.  Probably they won't ever see it.  We who are cherishing the messages are the ones who will hear these words.  I think it may be our job to pray for them, just as Our Lady is praying for them.  They will be very sorry one day, when they see what they have missed.

We can also witness to these souls, just keep reminding them of the good fruit of Medjugorje, and even show them episodes of Fruit of Medjugorje if we can.  In some way the good news of Our Lady's presence may re-awaken in them a desire for Our Lady of Medjugorje.

We don't want anyone to miss the graces of these days!!

Mary TV Daily Reflection 10/23/2015

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2015
The Way of Holiness!  Jesus!

October 23, 2015
St, John of Capistrano

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Today I am inviting all of you, without exception, to the way of holiness in your life. God gave you the grace, the gift of holiness. Pray that you may, more and more, comprehend it, and in that way, you will be able, by your life, to bear witness for God. Dear children, I am blessing you and I intercede to God for you so that your way and your witness may be a complete one and a joy for God. Thank you for having responded to my call." (September 25, 1988)

I prayed and randomly picked this message from my box of messages for us today. I feel it is a call for us. Our Lady says, "Today I am inviting ALL of you, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, to the way of holiness in your life."

For me this is significant. How many times do we read about a saint, or hear a terrific homily, and we say to ourselves, "Well that's nice, but I could never be that holy. I could never be that spiritual."

In that way, we can deflect the call to holiness. We can think ourselves exempted from receiving the gift of holiness from God. We can feel like bystanders, who watch others win the victory of holiness while we applaud.

"God gave you the grace, the gift of holiness." Do we really believe this? When did we get the gift of holiness? What is it? For me the gift of holiness is Jesus. He is the gift we have been given that will make us holy. How? By our surrender to Him. Everything that is not holy in us can be handed over to Jesus, placed in His merciful heart. Jesus will take care of our sinfulness, forgiving us in Confession, healing us in Holy Communion, and helping us change our lives through his example in the Scriptures. Jesus will sustain our holiness, if we stay united to Him in prayer. Each moment of each day can be spent in communion with Jesus, who will perfect our souls.

If we accept with open arms the gift of holiness, we will become witnesses to others of the gift God has for them. We will become good stories, told with joy! Our conversion and transformation through the love of Jesus will make a really good story to tell others, to show others by our lives!

We all want to be good stories!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV Daily Reflection 1022/2015 - St. John Paul II

Blessed John Paul II
St. John Paul II, we love you!!!

October 22, 2015
St. John Paul II

Dear Family of Mary!

Sunday, November 8, 1981
The Blessed Virgin kisses an image of the Pope and says:
"It is your father, the spiritual father of all."

Today we celebrate St. John Paul II! Here is a pope whom most of us know very well. He reigned over the Church for 27 years, enduring the stress of his duties as pope, as well as an assassination attempt, and later his growing infirmity, all for love of us. His writings were vast, his travels immense, and his moral resolve tireless. Here was a father who loved his children with such intensity that he would never give in, never retreat from their side.

Our Lady spoke to the visionaries about Pope John Paul II several times. Here is one instance:

Sunday, September 26, 1982
For Pope John Paul II:
"Have him consider himself the father of all mankind, and not only of Christians. Have him spread untiringly and with courage the message of peace and love among all mankind."

Truly, St. John Paul did live these words. He visited so many nations, always bringing with him a message of love, peace, and acceptance. Who can forget the courageous declaration of human dignity that he spoke to the Polish people in 1979! Here was a pope who cared for the people.

Our Lady also spoke to the Holy Father in 1983 in a message:

Friday, September 16, 1983
"In my messages, I recommend to everyone, and to the Holy Father in particular, to spread the message which I have received from my Son here at Medjugorje. I wish to entrust to the Pope, the word with which I came here: 'MIR', (peace in Croatian), which he must spread everywhere. And here is a message which is especially for him: That he bring together the Christian people, through his words and his preaching; that he spread particularly among the young people, the messages which he has received from the Father in his prayers, when God inspires him."

The Holy Father instituted World Youth Day and The World Meeting of Families, which have strengthened and evangelized the lay faithful all over the world. He did exactly what Our Lady counseled him in this message.

As I was thinking about St. John Paul II yesterday after Mass, I had a brief image. It was of a huge statue of St. John Paul II. I was standing near it with my back to it. I knew that if I turned around and looked up I would not be able to see the top. And I would not be able to see the features of the statue, as it was so tall, so huge, and my perspective was too close. I had a sense that I would not be able to truly appreciate this statue until I walked away from it many steps. The farther away I would get, the more I would be able to comprehend it.

I think that is a good image for the papacy of St. John Paul II. We are still very close to it, in time. The immensity of the graces and gifts that were given to us through St. John Paul II are so great that we cannot take them all in yet. But as the years progress, we will be able to see it more clearly, and take in the depth of it all. The JPII effect is not over, but just beginning!

Let's pray to Saint John Paul II for his intercession in our lives. We want to follow him in courage and devotion. May he help us all, help the Church and the world in these days:

O Holy Trinity,
we thank you for having given to the Church Pope John Paul II,
and for having made him shine with your fatherly tenderness,
the glory of the Cross of Christ and the splendor of the Spirit of love

He, trusting completely in your infinite mercy
and in the maternal intercession of Mary, has shown himself
in the likeness of Jesus the Good Shepherd
and has pointed out to us holiness
as the path to reach eternal communion with You.

Grant us, through his intercession,
according to your will, the grace that we implore,
in the hope that he will soon be numbered among your saints.
Amen.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV Daily Reflection 10/21/2015

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2015

October 21, 2015

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! I beseech you, especially those from this parish, to live my messages and convey them to others, to whomever you meet. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 16, 1984)

Here is a thought for today. Our Lady gave this message in 1984. She counseled the people of the parish, and probably all who were pilgrims there, to live her messages AND convey them to others. She didn't want them to be quiet about her messages, to be reticent about talking about them in public, or making conversation about them. She actually said, "...convey them to others, to whomever you meet." This is rather amazing!

"To whomever you meet..." The possibilities are endless. We could convey the messages to our neighbor, our postman, our taxi driver, our teacher, our coworker, and how many more!! She wanted her children to be proud of her messages, and to share them as the special gift they are.

It may have been easier to share the messages in 1984 when there was a great deal of interest in Medjugorje, and it was so new. But these days many feel that sharing the messages is not politically correct. There is a lot of confusion over what to say about Medjugorje.

I think that all this confusion and negativity over Our Lady's messages and her presence in Medjugorje comes from those who do not believe. They are free to have their opinion. But we who do believe have a right and responsibility to share about the wonders of Our Lady's presence. How sad we will be if at the end of our lives we realize how many people could have received the peace of God through Our Lady if we had spoken up, and didn't because we were afraid to speak.

We are Our Lady's only way to reach many of those people. We are her little ones who have been consoled, converted and healed through her messages. We need to share Our Lady's messages, even if it is only a phrase at a time, with all who need her so badly. It is a work of mercy to share about Our Lady of Medjugorje to others.

One suggestion: If we read even one message a day and meditate a little on it, we may be able to have phrases from it accessible in our memory, waiting for the right moment to share it with someone in need. Even one phrase from Our Lady can be life changing:

"If you knew how much I love you, you would cry with joy!"

"Even one rosary alone can do miracles in the world and in your lives."

"God doesn't want anything from you, only your surrender."

"Prayer works miracles."

"Pray, and do that which the Holy Spirit is telling you to do."

"I love each one of you as much as I love my Son, Jesus."

"I am with you and I am looking at you and I am blessing you."

"You are a part of me."

"I am with you and unceasingly pray for you that your life may be a reflection of heaven from earth."

"I desire to take you by the hand and to walk with you in the battle against the impure spirit."

"I am the Queen of Peace."

These are seeds that, when planted in someone's heart, will produce much grace for healing and conversion. We carry those seeds in our hearts, but we must plant them in other hearts so that the joy can be shared and shared and shared around the world.

"...Live my messages and convey them to others, to whomever you meet."

St. Paul of the Cross

Dear Family of Mary!

I am traveling today, but just wanted to send a short greeting.  The reading for Holy Mass today is a beautiful promise from Jesus:

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Gird your loins and light your lamps
and be like servants who await their master's return from a wedding,
ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself,
have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.
And should he come in the second or third watch
and find them prepared in this way,
blessed are those servants."  (Luke 12:35-38)

Jesus promises that if we stay alert and ready to serve Him throughout our lives, He will welcome us and seat us among His beloved, and serve us!  This is incredible.

And I was thinking that Our Lady through her main message has really given us a way to remain alert and ready to serve Jesus.  Prayer, conversion, fasting, the Bible, Holy Mass, and a life of the Sacraments!  How ready and alert we will be if we live Our Lady's messages.

So, today, we can thank Mother Mary for guiding us so well on the way to her Son!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Dear Family of Mary!

The first reading for Mass today is from Romans 4.  St. Paul speaks about the strong faith that Abraham had, a faith that was so sure and steady that God looked upon him as righteous.  Here is how St. Paul said it:

Brothers and sisters:
Abraham did not doubt God's promise in unbelief;
rather, he was empowered by faith and gave glory to God
and was fully convinced that what God had promised
he was also able to do.
That is why it was credited to him as righteousness.(Rom 4: 20-22)

Abraham believed God.  He believed Him so much that he left his homeland and became a wanderer.  He uprooted himself and his family, and followed the promptings of God as he traveled from place to place.  He could not even see the end of his journey, the promised land. Yet he never turned back.  He believed in God and all God had told him.

Even when God asked him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, he did not falter.  He trusted God and was willing to go against all he felt.  His faith in God was strong.

And so the Lord was able to build a people for himself on Abraham's faith.  He was able to begin His plan for the salvation of mankind, through one man's faith.

Our Lady has come to us in these days because we are in a time that needs strong faith.  This is a time of great upheaval.  Faith is being threatened everywhere. Hope is being dashed.  And love is disappearing from the hearts of men.  But she has come to ignite our faith again.  Just last month she told us:
"Dear children! Also today I am praying to the Holy Spirit to fill your hearts with a strong faith. Prayer and faith will fill your heart with love and joy and you will be a sign for those who are far from God. Little children, encourage each other to prayer with the heart, so that prayer may fulfill your life; and each day, you, little children, will be, above all, witnesses of serving God in adoration and of your neighbor in need. I am with you and intercede for all of you. Thank you for having responded to my call." (September 25, 2015)

Like Abraham, we are being called to build our lives on faith in the Lord.  Each moment of our day we can choose to live in faith, to think in faith, to pray in faith, and to rejoice in faith.  This choice to believe in God and His promises will change the way we live.  We will no longer react to our circumstances in fear, or anger, in selfishness or despair.  Faith will show us the way of love and hope.  Faith with help us to see the way out of every situation, provided by God.  The Holy Spirit will lead us in each moment on the way of hope and love.

We can be little Abrahams, leaving behind our old lives and following the inspirations of the Holy Spirit into a new way of life.  It will be a life of adoration.  We will adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and we will adore him in our neighbor, whom we will be able to serve out of love for Jesus.  This is the power that will deliver the world from the darkness that threatens to devour it.

May we receive the Holy Spirit's gift of a strong faith.  May we be open to believing in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as never before.  May we be a sign for those who are far from God, that God is actually very near to them.  May we be able to love all our brothers and sisters with and from the heart, powered by our strong faith.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
