Mary TV Daily Reflection 12/7/2015

St. Ambrose

Dear Family of Mary!

John went throughout the whole region of the Jordan,
proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,
as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah:
A voice of one crying out in the desert:
"Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.
Every valley shall be filled
and every mountain and hill shall be made low.
The winding roads shall be made straight,
and the rough ways made smooth,
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God." (Lk 3: 3-6)

This Scripture was part of the Gospel reading for yesterday, December 6. It is a prophecy from Isaiah which prefigured John the Baptist who was given the task to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah. John lived in the desert, and attracted great crowds through his preaching and baptizing. John was calling the Jewish people to repentance and conversion, in order to be ready for the coming of the Anointed One who would free them.

Our Lady chose to appear on the feast of St. John the Baptist, June 24, 1981.This was not an accident.  Our Lady chose this day in order to draw the comparison of her mission with that of St. John the Baptist.  Here is what is reported:

Wednesday, June 24, 1981 The visionaries see a distant apparition of a young woman in a long grey dress holding a baby in her arms on the hill of Crnica (now known as Apparition Hill). The first time was in the afternoon, the second time towards 6:00pm.

She did not speak to the visionaries, but we are told that she was holding baby Jesus. By covering and uncovering Baby Jesus with her veil, Our Lady was signing to the visionaries that she was revealing Jesus to them. She had come to prepare the people for Jesus, just as John the Baptist did all those years before.

John dwelt in the desert, far from the cities of Israel. Our Lady came to a very obscure village tucked away in the rocky mountainous terrain of Bosnia Hercegovina. John came to announce the time of grace, the time to repent and return to God in preparation for His coming. Our Lady came to turn her children back to God in a time of grace that has been given for us to repent and return to God. She told the visionaries on day 3 of the apparitions;

Ivanka: Why have you come here? What do you desire?
"I have come because there are many true believers here. I wish to be with you to convert and to reconcile the whole world." (June 26, 1981)

John called the people to confess their sins and repent before God through his baptism. Our Lady has given the pilgrims who come to her village the grace of a sincere confession, and a return to the Sacraments with intense fervor.

John did not please the Priests and Scribes of his time, because he spoke outside of their authority. Our Lady has spoken through the visionaries about how to live a good Christian life, how to pray, to repent, to fast, to read Scripture and to love. She speaks in complete harmony with Church teachings, but some of the hierarchy are not sure about her yet. The Church takes a long time in such matters. Still Our Lady is guiding us.

As we see the world growing more and more dark, we realize how very much we need Our Lady. She has come at a time of most need for mankind. She is trying very much to help us prepare for Jesus, who will come one day as a just judge. She is announcing a time of mercy, much like John the Baptist. Will we hear her? Will we grasp what she is telling us?

Mary, help of Christians, pray for us.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
