St. Damasus I
Dear Family of Mary!
Our Lady counseled the visionaries and parishioners of St. James Church to read Matthew 6: 24-34 every Thursday.
Thursday, March 1, 1984 (to Jelena):
"Each Thursday, read again the passage of Matthew 6, 24-34, before the most Blessed Sacrament, or if it is not possible to come to church, do it with your family."
She wanted the parish to learn how to live without anxiety, trusting in the Lord to provide for them, and not trusting in material things. Just the day before she gave that message, she talked to them about the very last lines of that passage from Matthew:
Wednesday, February 29, 1984
"Pray! It may seem strange to you that I always speak of prayer. And yet I say: pray! Why do you hesitate? In Holy Scripture, you have heard say: 'Do not worry about tomorrow, each day will have its own worries.' Then do not worry about the other days. Be content with prayer, I your Mother, will take care of the rest."

Clearly, Our Lady felt that it was of the greatest importance that the people realize where their life comes from, and from whom they should look for all they need! It is the heavenly Father who provides for us all!
Lately, it has been a challenge for me to stay in the peace of the moment, to trust in the Lord for everything. But when I am tempted to get fearful about the future, or to worry about our finances, etc. I have been hearing these words in my mind:
"It's time to get back to the jar."
This is in reference to the story of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath found in 1 Kings 17. Elijah was fleeing King Ahab, and needed to find a place to wait out the drought that God was visiting upon Israel. The Lord told him to go to Zarephath and there he met a poor widow. He asked her to give him food and she replied that she was about to eat the last of her flour and oil, in a cake. Elijah tells her to feed him first, and then herself and her son. She does so. And then the jar of flour and the jar of oil are miraculously replenished so that the three of them can eat for a year!
"It's time to get back to the jar."
Our Lady wants us to rely upon our Lord with great faith. She doesn't want us to waste energy and time fretting. Our job is to be lights for others through our faith. Our job is to pray, and let Our Lady take care of the rest!
Maybe it is time for us all to get back to the jar! "Be content with prayer, I your Mother, will take care of the rest."
Have a beautiful weekend. This is the time of mercy! It is also the time to prepare the way of the Lord! No time for worrying!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
