Mary TV Daily Reflection 11/2/2015

All Soul's Day

Dear Family of Mary!

Today we commemorate all the faithful departed. We remember them and we pray for them, that if they are not yet united with the Trinity in heaven, they will be quickly released from Purgatory to join the heavenly Communion of Saints. It is our duty to pray for our deceased relatives and friends every day, but on this day the whole Church joins together to beseech the Lord for their release and reunion with Him.

Our Lady has spoken clearly about the value of our prayers for our beloved deceased:

Wednesday, July 21, 1982
"There are many souls in Purgatory. There are also persons who have been consecrated to God: some priests, some religious. Pray for their intentions, at least 7 Our Father's, Hail Mary's and Glory Be's and the Creed. I recommend it to you. There is a large number of souls who have been in Purgatory for a long time because no one prays for them."

November 6, 1986 "Dear children! Today I wish to call you to pray daily for souls in purgatory. For every soul prayer and grace is necessary to reach God and the love of God. By doing this, dear children, you obtain new intercessors who will help you in life to realize that all the earthly things are not important for you, that only Heaven is that for which it is necessary to strive. Therefore, dear children, pray without ceasing that you may be able to help yourselves and the others to whom your prayers will bring joy. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Our Lady tells us that if we pray for these poor souls, we will also benefit. We will receive intercessors for our own conversion. And I think that when we are mindful of the souls who have passed from this life, we become aware very quickly of how important heaven is, and how passing our earthly life is. We gain an eternal perspective when we pray for the deceased. This way of viewing our lives will help us to make good choices. We will be aiming much higher when we choose because we will be aware of the life we were created to live, the life of heaven. It is a great help to us in our daily lives.

Also, praying for the poor souls in Purgatory is an act of mercy. To those who show mercy, mercy will be given!! We have many good reasons to pray for our brothers and sisters who have died. But the best on is because we love them. We wish them well, we want them to be with God.

Here is a prayer to Our Lady that may be helpful today as we pray for our deceased loved ones, and all who are in Purgatory:

Heavenly Lady of Mount Carmel
O most holy Virgin, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, you are the joy of the Church Triumphant, the help for the Church Militant, and the comfort of the Church Suffering. Therefore, extend, we pray you, your merciful glance on those numerous souls who suffer in the fires of purgatory and free them that they may be admitted to the Beatific Vision of God as soon as possible.

Remember O holy Virgin, to help especially those of my relatives, and those who are most abandoned and devoid of help. O most merciful Virgin, pour the merits of the precious Blood of Jesus on the elect brides of Jesus Christ until they are comforted in the heavenly glories.

And you, holy Souls, O elect souls, who can do so much through your prayers to God for us, intercede, therefore, for us and free us from the dangers of body and soul. Protect our families until we have all been granted admission to eternal happiness. Amen. (P. 66 "Praying in the Presence of Our Lord for the Holy Souls in Purgatory" by Susan Tassone)
