Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Also today I call you to also be like the stars, which by their light give light and beauty to others so they may rejoice. Little children, also you be the radiance, beauty, joy and peace - and especially prayer - for all those who are far from my love and the love of my Son Jesus. Little children, witness your faith and prayer in joy, in the joy of faith that is in your hearts; and pray for peace, which is a precious gift from God. Thank you for having responded to my call." (September 25, 2014)

I love this message. Our Lady gives us an idea of how wonderful it is to be one of her children. When we consecrate ourselves to Jesus and Mary, and begin to live our lives under their care, we receive powerful gifts. Faith, prayer, joy and peace!! These gifts make us look different. We may not realize it, but we do carry in us the signs of a child, well loved by a powerful Mother and well taught and protected by a merciful Brother and Lord.

The gift that stands out to me is the gift of peace, which Our Lady advises us to pray for. Peace is the main message Our Lady has brought to us in Medjugorje. Peace is something that almost every pilgrim will say they experience in Medjugorje. Peace slowly transforms hearts in Medjugorje.

Why is peace so important? I think that peace is foundational to our whole Christian life. The gift of peace is like the security that a little child feels when he is being held by his mother. Peace is what we experience when we finally understand and believe that God exists, and that He loves us. Peace comes from knowing that God exists. We finally can let go of all of our anxiety and fear, because we know that in the end God will be there for us, no matter what, to bring us home to Him. We are loved by God. This is peace.

And from that peace, we can begin to receive all the other gifts we need, prayer, joy, radiance, beauty, hope, love, and on and on. Once we reside in the presence of God, completely trusting in Him, we can receive all that we need, and give all that we are to others. We are like the stars that reside in the place God has given them, and shine with the joy of being.

In the book of Daniel, the Lord says to him, "But the wise shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, and those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever." (Daniel 12:3)

Surely this is what Our Lady is talking about in this message. "Little children, also you be the radiance, beauty, joy and peace - and especially prayer - for all those who are far from my love and the love of my Son Jesus." As we receive the gift of peace from God, we can begin to shine! We can lead others to justice by our example, the example of joy, light, love and peace. Our Lady wants us to become the wise. She wants us to bring many others to God and shine like the stars for eternity!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
