Our Lady of Sorrows

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Also today I am with you in a special way contemplating and living the passion of Jesus in my heart. Little children, open your hearts and give me everything that is in them: joys, sorrows and each, even the smallest pain that I may offer them to Jesus; so that with His immeasurable love, He may burn and transform your sorrows into the joy of His resurrection. That is why, I now call you in a special way, little children, for your hearts to open to prayer, so that through prayer you may become friends of Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call." (February 25, 1999)

Our Lady teaches us how to live this feast. She calls us to join her, to "contemplate and live the passion of Jesus in our hearts". Our Lady lived the passion every day of her life after Jesus ascended into heaven. The passion of Jesus was etched in her soul. Each moment that He suffered was for her unimaginably painful, and yet incredibly full of joy. Why? Because she knew that with each moment that He endured the Cross, He was winning eternal happiness for her and for each of us. Jesus won our salvation through His Cross. Our Lady saw all of her sorrows transformed in to the joy of His resurrection. We too will see each of our sorrows transformed into joy through the resurrection, if we pray and cling to our hope in Jesus.

Our Lady counsels us to pray so that we may become friends of Jesus. Only a dear friend will stay with you when you are suffering. Only love will keep someone by your side when you are sick, wounded, or in pain. That is why when we pray, meditating on Jesus' passion, we will become friends of Jesus. We will become those who stick with Jesus through His Crucifixion. Like St. John or St. Mary Magdalene, we will be connected to Jesus through our love.

Our Lady prays with us. "Little children, open your hearts and give me everything that is in them: joys, sorrows and each, even the smallest pain that I may offer them to Jesus; so that with His immeasurable love, He may burn and transform your sorrows into the joy of His resurrection." She calls us to give her all our wounds, so that she can present them to Jesus, who will pour out His mercy upon them, miraculously turning them in to blessings. Mother Mary will pray for our healing, our physical healing, our mental healing, our spiritual healing. She wants us to give her everything broken within us. This is the great mystery of the Cross, that Jesus won the victory over sin and death, over all our brokenness, and that He can make us new by the power of His Cross. She in intimately concerned for each of us. Nothing is too small. Nothing is too hidden. She wants it all transformed. We only have to open our hearts to her, to pray to her with complete honesty. She will do the rest.

Today we are being offered an incredible gift. It is the gift of regeneration, offered to us by Christ, Crucified. May we open our hearts to this great gift. We will not regret it.

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
We love you, O Mary, and we open our hearts to you today, giving you everything that is in them: joys, sorrows and each, even the smallest pain that you may offer them to Jesus; so that with His immeasurable love, He may burn and transform our sorrows into the joy of His resurrection.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
