Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! In this time of grace I call you to take the cross of my beloved Son Jesus in your hands and to meditate on His passion and death. May your suffering be united in His suffering and love will win, because He who is love gave Himself out of love to save each of you. Pray, pray, pray until love and peace begin to reign in your hearts. Thank you for having responded to my call." (March 25, 2013)

On this feast - The Exaltation of the Holy Cross - the Church calls us to do exactly what Our Lady urged us to do in this message. We are called to meditate on Jesus' passion and death on the Cross. We consider His choice to suffer for us, His choice to die for us while we were still in our sin. We marvel at His love:

While we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Why, one will hardly die for a righteous man -- though perhaps for a good man one will dare even to die. But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we are now justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.  (Rom 5: 6-10)

We meditate on the Father's mercy, so great that He would ask Jesus to become one of us and take our sins upon Himself:

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. (John 3: 16-17)

"For God so loved the world..." Our Lady tells us that if we unite our suffering with Jesus' suffering on the Cross, love will win!! It is this victory that we all long for. We want love to win, in our hearts, in our families, in our countries and in the world. We want love to win! And it is through our unity with the Crucified that this will happen. We can nail all our wounds, our sorrows, our fears, our anxieties, our persecutions, our rejections, our losses, our depressions, our addictions, our obsessions, our illnesses, in fact all our disorders to the Cross where they will be transformed into love. We can give them all to the Father, through the pierced Heart of Jesus, and the Father will accept them in His mercy. The Father will heal us and give us the grace of love.

Let's take time today, take some quiet, alone time with the Crucifix. Let's pour out our hearts to Jesus. He is waiting there so patiently for us. He thirsts for us, on the Cross. Let's not hang back, but rush to Him.

O Cross of Christ, immortal tree
On which our Savior died,
The world is sheltered by your arms
That bore the Crucified.

From bitter death and barren wood
The tree of life is made;
Its branches bear unfailing fruit
And leaves that never fade.

O faithful Cross, you stand unmoved
While ages run their course;
Foundations of the universe,
Creation's binding force.

Give glory to the risen Christ
And to his Cross give praise,
The sign of God's unfathomed love,
The hope of all our days.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
