Dear Family of Mary!
April 25, 2009
"Dear children! Today I call you all to pray for peace and to witness it in your families so that peace may become the highest treasure on this peaceless earth. I am your Queen of Peace and your mother. I desire to lead you on the way of peace, which comes only from God. Therefore, pray, pray, pray. Thank you for having responded to my call."

We are drawing closer to the Feast of the Queenship of Mary!  Today let's consider this message from Our Lady given in 2009.  She asks that we pray for peace and witness it in our families so that it can become "the highest treasure in this peaceless earth." This is a very serious request.  Our Lady, as our Queen, asks us to make peace our highest concern.

But we all know that peace is seemingly unattainable, at least in terms of society and world events.  The opposite seems to be happening at an alarming rate.  War, terrorism, violence, abortion, slavery, economic oppression, and on and on.  Where is peace?

I firmly believe that only Mary, the Mother of Jesus, can show us the way to peace now.  We will never discover peace without her help.  The Father has sent her to us to lead us to peace, the peace that comes from Him.  She has the answer.  "Pray, pray, pray!"

Here is a prayer to Our Lady, for peace, attributed to Saint John Paul II.  As we pray to Our Lady for peace, may he join in our intercession!  Saint John Paul II, pray for us!

Prayer for Peace to Mary, the Light of Hope

Immaculate Heart of Mary, help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so easily takes root in the hearts of the people of today, and whose immeasurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to block the paths toward the future.

From famine and war, deliver us.
From nuclear war, from incalculable self destruction, from every kind of war, deliver us.
From sins against human life from its very beginning, deliver us.
From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of the children of God, deliver us.
From readiness to trample on the commandments of God, deliver us.
From the loss of awareness of good and evil, deliver us.
From sins against the Holy Spirit, deliver us.

Accept, O Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual human beings, laden with the sufferings of whole societies. Help us with the power of the Holy Spirit conquer all sin: individual sin and the "sin of the world," sin in all its manifestations.

Let there be revealed once more in the history of the world the infinite saving power of the redemption: the power of the merciful love.
May it put a stop to evil.
May it transform consciences.
May your Immaculate Heart reveal for all the light of hope.
(Pope John Paul II)
